Default That clutch tho

Alright. So I'm new to the JDM community. I just recently traded my 98 mustang for a 2005 350z... SO I'm lost here.. I think my clutch is toast. I can shift into gear and the clutch will keep the tranny in gear, but wont let me go accelerate above 2.500 rpm. ALSO. Ya know how if you let out of the clutch at a stand still it'll kill the engine? Yeah. That doesn't happen with ducky (my z)..... Is my clutch the issue? Or is it something worse?

DO the rpms start racing when you pass 2.5k?

always did this since you got the Z? or recently developed it? I immediately thought of UprRev valet map when you mentioned 2500rpm

Welcome to the 350Z (not JDM) community. There's something not right with your Z car if you're stuck at a 2,500 RPM shift limit. Doesn't have much to do with the clutch, however.

By won't let you accelerate do you mean the tachometer won't go past 2500 rpm's? Or that the anything above 2500 rpm's and the car wont move any faster? Is the Check Engine Light on? By the way a clutch is the same function in every car be it American, Euro, or JDM.

It wont go faster after 2,500 RPMs. No check engine light.

Ducky- your Z is most likely running on a restricted engine map. Using one won't throw and codes or CELs. But when you test drove this car, didn't it seem a little strange that it wouldn't rev past 2,500RPM?

To get a better idea of what we're talking about, do a little search on UpRev's valet map and how it works.

For the record, it test drove fine. Wound out through all 6 gears. That's why I didn't have a problem taking it. It wasn't till I got it home and drove it when the issue occured. First with the clutch not killing the engine when I let off while sitting Still. Then when I tried to drive it in that condition the rpms wouldn't go past 2500. It's like it's hitting a governor or something.

Could you possibly get a video of this so we can understand it better?

Okay, I am not trying to call you stupid.. But when you let out of the clutch, are you sure your not in neutral? If your positive your in first gear and your car does not die, your clutch is 100% gone. Now the 2500rpms issue. Lots of things can cause your Z to be in limp mode. Most common is your MAF sensor plug (located on your air box intake tube) being loose or unplugged. Let us know your findings.

I'm just confused and I'm sure everybody else is because you say, "when I drove it in that condition". If your clutch is not engaging, how do you drive the car??
