Default Engine swap?🤔

So I blew my DE engine on Saturday 😭😭..instead of getting a DE engine I'm thinking of swapping to HR. Besides changing the manifold what else would I have to change and is their any recommended mechanic in the IE area?

Im pretty sure Ive read all that's needed is ECU and harness.

But many guys also follow that up with the HR isn't worth it as far as getting "better" performance for the cost. Its not THAT much better of an engine (Their words not mine).

And usually recommend just staying DE or finding a MUCH better engine for a little more if possible.

I thought going HR will give more more since that engine is stronger, holds longer gears and saves oil lol! I found a HR engine for the same price as a DE, so that's why I'm asking. So getting a HR I don't have to change the manifold? Just harness and ecu?

Its a very tight fit, not to mention you need the newer hood, preferably the cd009 trans to go with engine

How did you blow yours?

You do know if you did headers, you really needed to have it tuned

Not to mention they arent worth the minimal gains for the pita install

i know I was going to get it tuned but I didn't think it would go out on me.

Having completed an HR swap for a racecar in the past, let's just say you've been reading the wrong threads. There are a ton of parts that need to be swapped over and it would be helpful to have the entire front clip to do the swap.

The OP is making a wise decision to go with a rebuilt DE engine...

If u wanted to swap the car I would personally go with an LSX or LQ9. Probably around the same price but more work/wiring/parts. But the power gains would out way the cost. Just my $.02.

Whats your guys' opinion on 2jz swap? Will the stock turbos and piping fit in the 350z bay?
2jz is alot cheaper than the LSx....but will stock 2jz be a significant increase over the vq?

There is no arguing the potency of the 2JZ-GTE motor. It's power potential is extreme and aftermarket support is strong, these are could be reference for swaps 2jz

Dreamer thread. Swaps cost money. Don't have 10k+ to play with? Forget about it.

You were asking questions on how to swap in an HR, and while that's no simple task, the 2jz surpasses that in time/money/fabricating. Not to mention that while it's an amazing motor, in Stock form it's not that awesome. It's known for its potential to withstand way too much boost for mere mortals
