Default Sequential Gearbox for a drift Z

I'm searching for a sequential gearbox for a drift 350Z, the car is 4.1 storkerd engine & Twin turbos, power is around 800hp. So, the gearbox has to withstand such power output, I need it to have longer ratio shifts which is suited for a TT car. My main concern is having to modify the driveshaft & fabricate an adapter to the crossmember & fabricate a rear transmission mount. It would be deal if a manufacturer would provide me with a full 100% bolt-on gearbox.

I'd appreciate your advice & recommendations

Hewland also makes a high HP sequential box but is closer to $10K in price. I wouldn't expect any "bolt-on" applications from Quaife, Hewland, etc.- these gearboxes are all specially modified to fit their specific applications.

I did contact Quaife, they informed me that I need to fabricate both a crossmember adapter & the transmission mount and to modify the drive shaft, I wonder how would I modify a carbon fiber drive shaft?!.
The main drawback is that their box is 6-speed & I prefer a 5-speed which might have longer ratios. The 1st gear is currently useless with the stock gearbox & 3.3 final drive.

That's likely the answer you're going to get from any of the major tranny brands. Each application is going to require some specialized fabrication to properly mount a sequential shift tranny. There's simply not enough of a market to create adaptors and mounts for one-off projects. Besides, most pro teams have personnel who can do it cheaper and better. As to the driveshaft, you'll likely need a full metal one, designed for your tranny prop shaft and Z mount. Gear ratios are adjustable with these type of race boxes, so you'll have plenty of choices.

4 or 5 speed Jerico , available in any ratios you want. Ratios are easily swapped for different tracks if needed

I did some research regarding the Jerico & read several good reviews about them. But it seems that the Jerico is a toploader not a sequential box, not sure what the difference is I've got to have the 'flat shifting' option with any box I get & I wonder if Jerico offers such capability? With seq boxes a special ECU is required for flat shifting.

Are you trying to install this yourself? These type of sequential transmissions are high-tech and high-dollar applications. They're best left to race shops (with a blank check) staffed with expensive technicians who know how to install a sequential box with 'flat shift' capabilities. What series are you competing in?

Yes absolutely, the car was built by prominent race shop, what gave you the impression that I'm installing it myself? :}
I'm competing in the red bull series.

The nature of your questions made me wonder what kind of advice you were getting. While my motorsports background includes almost 30 years of experience, I've never utilized a full sequential gearbox. It's a fair bet that only a handful of Z33 owners here have ever had one in their cars, if that.

Isn't the "prominent race shop" that built your car providing you any guidance on your transmission needs? They should be able to give first-hand advice on such an application.

I very nearly pulled the trigger on a 69G, but, like you said, it requires a custom bell housing adapter and driveshaft. It was just too soon in the build to undertake something that is more of a "Luxury".

If you are making 700+whp you are going to spend BIG money. The 69G is 10-12k USD and isn't even rated for that type of power. One option might be to call Albins in Australia....they have a number of apps for that power level and likely have worked on VQ powerplants in the past. You will spend 15-20k EASY before it ever gets to you, though.

Sasha from OnPoint uses the 69g - do they not sell the bellhousing and the adapter?

I appreciate all the replies guys, I contacted two companies, Hewland & Holinger & ended up ordering a 6speed box from Holinger as I was very satisfied with the help & service they provided. I will be getting the RD6 box with flat shifting ecu & sensor, 350z specific bell housing, custom gear ratios, a generic rear mount, & a slip yoke. I'll need to make a custom driveshaft locally & install an oil cooler.

May we ask what this all cost (US dollars approx.)?
