Differences in transmissions?...
What actually makes the cd009 better than the others besides being newer? I searched and couldn't find a good answer. And is it worth the swap from a cd003?

More synchronizers with better tolerance to boneheaded shifts.
Big diff between CD001 and 009.

That really depends on two factors: the condition of your current tranny and your skill in operating it. If you grind on most downshifts and have no idea how to heel/toe downshift, a new CD009 might really help.

My current transmission is pretty good. And im pretty decent at shifting. I didnt know if a cd009 is considered an upgrade or if its just kind of pointless. Especially since im saving up to go F/I i didnt know if thats when it would really help. I know the more hp you make, you need to upgrade clutch, flywheel, etc. I didnt know if this would help with that or no. Thanks guys for the help so far.

Thats what i was thinking. Now come to think of it i do get a grind downshifting from 4th to 3rd if i dont change gears a little slower. So i dont know if thats a sign i need to change transmissions all together or wait.

Common/known problem in early transmission '03-'05 (or so). Synchronizers on third (and sometimes other gears) are soft and just-don't-work. I've nursed mine for 4+ years just being careful with double clutch and/or heel toe and no issues but a grind now and again reminding me I'm not as dextrous or speedy as I think I am.
