Question Oil Temp Sensor

I know there have been a couple of threads on this but would it be possible to use the wires from the OEM oil pressure sensor and splice in the oil temp wires instead of having to use a spacer/adapter or weld a bung? I don't know much about electrical but it can't be too hard, just wondering if its been done or if its possible.

You seem to be mixing electrical and mechanical problems. You may be able to use the oil pressure wires but would loose the oil pressure sensor just a bad idea. The adaptor, T, or welding a bung is so you can keep the original pressure sensor mechanically connected to the engine and use the same hole for the pressure sensor and temp sensor. It has nothing to do with the wiring.

That, and you posted the exact same question twice, 15 minutes apart. Calm down, and maybe try searching before asking.

I had posted in the wrong thread without realizing and couldn't find a way to delete it. I've done alot of searching and reading and couldn't quite find an answer although you and rancor had helped answer my question . Trying an oil drain plug with a 1/8NPT fitting for the sensor. Hopefully it works

Do you mean an adapter in the oil pan that will fit a 1/8"NPT sensor?

The threads on the oil pan drain are M12 - 1.25, which may not be the easiest size to find.

Something like this, I saw it for other engines and it seemed to work fine with no leaks. Alot cheaper than a sandwhich adapter and having to remove the pan and weld a bung.

As long as the threads are correct, that will work fine.

As simple as it is to remove the lower oil pan on the Z, I'd take the pan off and have a dedicated bung welded in for the oil temp sender. For the oil drain, these things are the best, and I use them on all my cars:

If you have a ZSpeed undertray along with the Fumuto drain plug you can change the oil almost without tools. You need a 10mm socket to open the little trap door and an oil filter wrench.

Is it more accurate to take temp and PSI readings with a welded on bong to the oil pan or using the ports on s thermostatic sandwich plate? Going to be adding oil cooler to the car this week so rather do it right the first time.

The sandwich plate port(s) will offer more accurate results, and you certainly can't get a pressure reading from the oil pan.

Will the sandwich plate mounted oil pressure sensor will be able to pick up pressure loss if lets say i get an oil cooler thats too large for example? Or does the psi loss can only be measured on a return side after the oil cooler?

i want to run a non traditional oil cooler such as a bar and plate (its like a turbo air to air intercooler) so worried about measuring pressure
