Default p0335 - Cylinder 1 coilpack smoking

SO CLOSE to getting the Z started after building the motor, but I'm stumped guys. Realigned the flywheel to the correct way and still getting that code (it was 2 notches off from where it needed to be). Cylinder 1 coilpack actually started smoking yesterday when I tried to turn it over and the only OBD code is p0335, "crankshaft position sensor A Circuit malfunction." still. It clears out just fine but comes right back when you try to start it. I have tried unplugging it and starting it, the car still wont start. (Someone said it would start but it would run rough.) I have a wire issue and I don't know where to start. Idk if it's in the ECM or in the harness somewhere. I could use some help here guys. 03 manual 350z. Took the motor out to build it now I'm trying to get it cranked. Please lend any advice you guys have. PFA

I'd try ohming out crank sensor itself first. If you grab the FSM download online look under the EC (engine control) section it should give you the parameters for testing the sensor. It will also give you instructions for testing the plug from the harness to the CPS and the ECU pins. If you do test the ECU be sure to disconnect the battery for a few minutes before testing anything on the ECU unless specifically told otherwise in the FSM. This should give you a decent place to start.
