by "8.5", do you mean "8.5:1" compression ratio?

either way.. holy crap.. I wonder how NISMO thinks that a $3200 price tag is reasonable?

regardless, I suppose it's a really good thing that NISMO is developing so many parts for the VQ. Maybe they'll eventually have a programmable ECU solution for us.. because there's no point in running 8.5:1 CR unless you're planning to run boost.

Yes, "8.5:1" compression ratio.

now the question is, why 8.5? are they planning something??

if anything else, they should go higher, like 11 or 11.5 or something.. since they want to keep n.a.

hmm, interesting...

8.5:1 is an interesting choice. Are these Nismo US or Nismo Japan parts? Any idea who actually makes them?

Of COURSE they are planning something. You wouldn't drop to 8.5 for NA!!!

No offense to NISMO, but this time they are OUT OF THEIR MINDS. I can go to ANY major company and have them forge a set of pistons for $1200 TOPS!

What makes these so special?

Word of advice Jeff... don't bother ordering any of these in!

Maybe they made them to run with their 12:1 heads... From what I understand.... (and have NO verification)... these are not from Nismo Japan. Again.... I have not verified this yet... but will. Also here's a link if you need it... http://www.performancenissanparts.co...roducts_id=394

I leave for a couple of hours and look what happens...

Considering the 8.5:1 pistons we have had to offer were $149.99 each (list $169.99) $899.94 for the 6... and $159.99 for the Ring set ($179.99 list) that is already at $1059.93 for the Pistons and rings...

That doesnt near include Rods...

Id like to know the kind of rods they are...

And remember.. we do already have the high strength connecting rod bolts from NISMO...

http://www.performancenissanparts.co...roducts_id=310

Basicly... now we have everyhthing to build up a low compression motor for a Turbo or Super Charger (which I doubt NISMO is going to offer any time soon) and if you can get some cams grinded to spec of the 46cc heads... you can build up a 9.5:1 motor...

We are going to see some badd A$$ Z's in the FI world if someone uses these to build up a motor...

Why these???

No reason to pay the premium for NISMO badged equipment. Simply buy direct from the company whom OEM'd it for NISMO.

I'll buy the inexpensives (i.e. shiftknob, horns, etc.) from NISMO, simply because it's a good value. These are ridiculous. I'll call Crower and have something similar done for a fraction.

Again, thanks for keeping us up to speed Jeff!!!!

thats fine.. so then who originally manufactured them... you dont think NISMO would get exclusive rights to it?

Also forged H-Rods included in the price... Do we know if it includes bolts too?

We do not know whats comes with these yet... but... like the NISMO LSD.. it may be a little more.. but it comes in a kit with EVERYTHING you need to install it...

What makes these so special? I'm surprised I have to tell you this... but they're *OBVIOUSLY* magic.

This makes no sense. Why would they make pistons and rods if they don't plan to release FI products?

Better yet...

NISMO were the earliest cams, why hasn't anyone ELSE done cams with that duration and lift?

I personally think that the services and products that Performance Nissan provide is great. The tech support they give to all the 350z owners is 2nd to none. I figure if you don't like the prices or products then don't buy it. Nismo just like Mugen both are expensive, but you are gauranteed a quality product. If you search other sites for prices for the Nismo products you'll find that Perfomance Nissan offer very competitive prices. IMO

Keep up the good work Jeff, Jason, and Jenny.

Just like the NISMO forged 8.3 piston set for the SR20, outrageously priced and robbed from the GTi-R. I bought JE for cheap comparatively. I'm certain they're of high quality, but somebody's sure to come out with 8.5 forged rods and pistons for more value in the future.

I can't believe this. I think I agree.

Maybe I'm just dwelling on the Nismo CAI which I considered buying just because of namesake when we know it's an AEM. Maybe it's because I was so close to spending the $1,600 for S-Tune suspension with installation bringing it to $2,200 when I could get a superior set-up with Tein for less after 9 months.

When it comes right down to it, the only Nismo product I like and bought was the Nismo wing. And, it's a replica because I didn't want to spend $800 for it. Moreover, it was designed for the Sony Playstation and was not designed by Nismo.

I understand why. What I would prefer is Nismo producing race tested, non-copied, proprietary parts. Instead, Nismo needs to worry about testing, regulations and DOT requirements. Consequently, any Nismo product is a copied aftermarket product that really isn't what - well, what EVO, Crawford, LaBree, Kinetex or dare I say it, even Stillen parts are. On second thought, as far as race tested, I think EVO is the only one that qualifies. BJ and his crew are what Nismo should be.

I dunno. I think I need to remove my chrome Nismo license plate. Worse, this crap is making me agree with someone who to date, I haven't had much to agree with.

Uh, all that said...Performance Nissan rocks!
