So, I have recently swapped my car to a 6mt from the 5at. Swaped was completed 2-05-2020 at 6pm. After swap and first test drive everything worked no issues. My car is an 04 touring and trans came from 04 car as well. Car cranks, runs, and drives flawlessly. Only issue is key fob will not work anymore. It worked the night b4 after the swap. Worked after first test drive. Next day fob will not work. I have used 9 brand new batteries in fob. Well, I get in the car and leave the driveway and drive 3 miles to the highway. As I pull onto the highway the Horns started blaring while I was driving. I pulled over popped the hood and disconnected the wires to the horns. The green set light for cruise control started blinking and the only way I got it to off was to disconnect the battery and reconnect. Has not happened sense and fob hasn't worked sense last night.
Anyone else experience this issue? What did you do to resolve it ? It you didnt have this issue and you have done the 6mt swap please give me a detailed description of the complete wiring process of what you did. The way my car is currently wired is I cut the wire #53 grey/red strip. The part of the wire coming out of the plug goes to constant 12v source. The other part of the wire doesn't go to anything. It's just sitting there. I did not use an interlock switch on the clutch pedal. I just wanted to make sure everything still works. Still using 5at ecu and harness.
No expert on this, I haven't done the 6mt- 5 auto swap. Clearly you need to sort through your issues-
1) Having to d/c your battery to disengage cruise does not sound convenient.
2) Having to pull over and d/c horns " " " " " .
3) No, it's not the fob battery, but that's the least of your worries. I'd remove the battery and work on this last. When the other problems are sorted.
EDIT. Look on YT and do the keyfob relearn, that may help with your horn but likely not the cruise. Some wiring you changed is screwing up controls from steering column/wheel. Reevaluate any splices you made consider if each was the best choice. No I'm not being snarky. Also possible you missed replacing a ground wire. Gl!
I've had the swap done for a couple of months now and my key has worked fine since. The wiring you did for the TCM interlock (the #53 wire) shouldn't have affected anything other than letting you crank it. I'm pretty sure you do need to wire up something to get cruise control back, but I didn't bother since mine is becoming a track car. The key issue sounds like something completely unrelated, so I would give the relearn procedure a try if you haven't yet.
