Vq35de engine swap woes
Okay. Been cranking it after trying a few things. Doesn't sound like other 350zs cranking. It's not a constant sound, it sounds like it puts out 3 good cranks and then a low tone. Dont know how to share a video on here. Also not getting any fuel. Took the pressure damper thing off of the fuel line and watched it as I cranked. Nothing. Filled the fuel line(as it has been sitting a while) and still nothing
BCM sends signals to ECM using CAN communication. and if they're missed matched you'll get errors and controls various electrical components according to the results.
- SYSTEMS CONTROLLED BY BCM AND IPDM E/R
- ● Panic alarm.
- ● Theft warning system. ● IVIS (NATS).

I have not switched, swapped, intermingled, mismatched, removed, replaced, tampered with, or touched the ECM, BCM, or anything that has to do with NATS. The car ran great, then it threw a rod. New short block installed, kept factory heads and harness. Never removed anything from the donor car except for the engine, and the only part from the donor car was a short block. Every other piece came off of this car, and hence is compatible with all of the computer systems, just as it was before it blew. I know the fuel pump is out, I am waiting on a new one to arrive. Was just curious about the cranking noise as I am not used to hearing such a cranking pattern. I just hope somebody can tell me whether or not it sounds mechanically correct or not. Don't want to fire this thing up and have something wrong
im confused I thought you said you did an engine swap? and you keep talking about this timing thing, you said you took the fuel damper off and saw no fuel right, so that should be your first concern why aren't I getting fuel? so why aren't you getting fuel?
is the fuel pump fuse in or is it no good?
did you hook up the fuel pump properly?
are the fuel lines Hooked up backwards?

I removed the engine from the vehicle. Then, I used a good short block, but the heads that are original to the car, and installed them on this short block. Had to mess with timing because you have to pull cams, so I decided to do a new chain and water pump while I was there. And then I reinstalled the engine. The pump itself is assumed bad, as the relay clicks when I flip the key to the on position, but the pump itself does not make any noise or send any fuel
Thank you to all who contributed. The issue was the fuel pump the whole time. So used to being able to put some carb cleaner in the intake and get something... guess I'm just old school
She runs great! Time for a test drive... I may want to keep it!
