Default Carbon driveshaft connection

Anyone has idea how is this metal part fixed to the carbon shaft? It looks it's just pressed into, but not sure. Need it shorter.

Long story short, I need to shorten driveshaft. The idea is to cut it and press metal part into the carbon tube.

Trav is right; the OEM CF driveshaft was made with specific tooling and procedures. This is NOT anything for a DIYer to take on.

Can't see anything so special in assembling, that's all what I basically need to do.

I appreciate a good DIY'er BUT..... I watched a Fasterprom or Cletus video where they went to a shop who makes CF drive shafts. They use special glue, heat, and a press to ensure everthing stays secure. Not sure it is something i would do in my garage and then drive long term.

Yes, but they use flat inserts. Mine (350z OEM) has teeth, many of them and quite long, making friction surface significantly big.

Also, I will use an epoxy too here:

Call me a skeptic, but there's too many variables here. But it's your car, and if you want to blow out the driveshaft, it's your business. Although why you need to shorten the driveshaft so much is still a mystery?

I appreciate your concern, but still didn't get any valid argument against, so I'll definitely do it.

Honestly, didn't want to post anything yet before I'll have at least adapter plate ready, but since you asked and being nice, I'll let you know. Putting BMW M3/M4 F80/F82 7 speed dual clutch transmission to my 350z. And you will love it, will keep clutch pedal too!

Read on a 370z Forum that Charles from CJM is doing something similar.

Interesting. In for vid of a test-ridealong!

Always thought a Z with a DSG would be fun.
