Default Looking for tuner…

I’m in Illinois and looking for a tuner to take my 2004 350Z to. GRD doesn’t do Z’s anymore and at the moment it looks like PFM in Elgin who they recommended is also out of the picture (phone # doesn’t work). Anybody know anyone in the Midwest region??

I’m also looking for input on whether I should do anything else to the ride before the tune, say under $1k. Right now it has simple changes and runs fine with what’s been done:

Cold air intake (relocation to in front of core support)
9/16” plenum spacer
Headers
High flow cats
Cheap true dual exhaust w/o X pipe

All suggestions are appreciated.

If you're going with UpRev, there are a few tuners in your area based on UpRev's website:

Sound Performance
AMS
Red Mist

As far as other modifications if you're staying N/A - 75mm TB? Not sure what intake you have right now, but moving up to a 3.5" or 4" intake?

After that, you're pretty much maxed out for breather bolt-on mods.

Alternatively you can do a remote tune, that's what I did.
Haven't heard of Sound Performance in a while lol.
Admin tuning and Specialty Z do some good work with remote tunes, you'll need a wideband if your car is an early model though.

Should I be looking to up the TB to 75mm? Does increasing the airflow impact it enough that bigger injectors should be considered? If so, will that call for a new fuel pump and lines?

IMHO the only reason to do a 75mm TB is if you are planning to run a bigger intake like 3.5" so that it creates a taper and speeds up air.
You should at no point need fuel mods for basic NA, unless you plan on running E85 which isn't worth the trouble IMO.

No, no plans for E85 (hadn’t even thought about it). I enjoy tinkering w things and am not particularly thrilled w the overall performance of the car. The cost to go from NA to FI is more than I want to do, same goes for an LS swap, though a V8 growl and torque curve would be nice. That said, I’m trying to get as much fun out of it without going crazy and I realize that a tune specific to the car would likely help get the most bang out of the mods made so far.

Yeah, dyno tune is Optimal but damn near impossible with Uprev in Illinois, I asked around and ultimately decided to go with a remote tune from Admin and I'm happy this far.
Another thing to consider if you want a little more oomph out of the car without breaking the bank is a different final drive like a 3.9 or higher.

It had an open diff when I bought it and I got a limited slip off a 2004 350Z convertible…it was one of the first changes made to the car. To be honest I did ZERO research about it when I made the purchase, assumed they made a stock limited slip diff for the Z’s that was an option but I have no idea what the drive ratio is.

A proper LSD, the OEM one is better than open but barely a LSD at all. Never get the hole E smell, now race gas, that is a so good.

I remember taking Uprev, it's very good actually.
