Default Oil Temp sensor location

Hi All,

Going to be installing an oil temp gauge and was curious where people are placing their sensor at? My two thoughts are either as close to the pickup as possible (either on the oil pan or on a pan spacer), or on a sandwich plate between the oil filter. The sandwich plate seems the easiest but since that has coolant running close to it I'm wondering how accurate/useful the reading would be.

Thanks

I have all extra coolant passenges deleted and run the oil temp through an oil pan spacer.

there's a 1" oil pan spacer available from Z1/CZP That adds about a quart of oil and includes taps for an oil cooler which you can optionally use for a gauge. The oil filter is not the best location for reading the oil temperature. down in the pan near the oil pickup is a more accurate temp. but it might not make much difference. I personally just don't like the fitting near the oil filter because it's exposed.
