Default No Overdrive

I have a 2004 Enthusiast AT with 75k mileage. I’ve owned it for about a year and have recently noticed I have no fifth gear. I have found myself going 100+ and when I change to the tiptronic/fake manual mode, I am always in 4th. I can be cruising at highway speeds but I will be at 4k rpm in 4th gear. Also makes my exhaust extremely loud on highways which can be frustrating for longer drives. Wondering where I should start with the investigation of this issue before I go tearing apart my whole engine bay. I imagine it’s possibly something internal in the transmission, but if anyone has experience with this I would appreciate some insight.

Can you manually put it into 5th? Usually when you go into manual mode it drops a gear(at least my SUV does that)

Yes, it lets me upshift into 5th in the fake manual mode. But in normal D it never selects 5th as long as I have owned the car. I know this because for the past two weeks I have been counting the gear changes in my head to see if it ever pops into 5th haha

What's your RPM at in automatic mode and at what speed.
When you go into manual mode it's going to say 4th every-time on the highway

It depends of how I'm driving, but I find myself at times driving 110+ on the highway at 4k-5k RPM and still in fourth gear. If I floor it, RPM will raises but no upshift occurs. When shifting to fake manual mode, there is no hesitation, no downshift, nothing.

You're an idiot.
At 4800rpm with 3.357 gear ratio in 5th gear(1.0 ratio) you should be at 113mph
Big difference between 4000-5000...
If it was 4th gear. 110+mph you'd be over 6k

My apologies, I guess I forgot how stupid I am. If you would like, I can get my magnifying glass out and count the exact RPMs and get back to you. I guess you didn't understand the main part we are talking about - the 5th gear not working in normal drive mode but only in manual mode. I am sorry I do not have the RPM range memorized in my head, maybe I should have said 5-6k instead of 4-5k. Won't happen again. I guess I'll see if someone else has some information on this topic because you clearly seem to be having a miserable day. Thanks anyway.

Big difference between 4-5k and 5-6k. Even at 5-6k rpm you are still in 5th gear at those speeds. smh. I hope you dugan
