Angry 350z Gear Manual Gear Box

My 2004 350z gearbox makes grinding noise when I'm entering 2nd gear from 1st gear with cold engine. When engine gets warm up, this problem occasionally occurs.
Anyone has this problem?

I noticed this problem ever since I bought the car brand new.
Is this how it is?

My first gear is loud and whiney. Is that a problem? I always thought it was sporty kinda like a turbo spooling.

Unhappy Grinding noises

I too have the same problem, I get the grinding noise even with the clutch fully depressed.

That's wierd. I had this same exact problem with my 2003 Honda Civic Si. Got rid of it and bought a Z. No problems now.

the 1-2 noise seems to be very common and normal.. it happened a lot to me when the car was brand new.. i have 2600 miles on it now and it's a lot better.

It seems that most of them do it. I'm not real happy about it and after 6000 miles its mostly the same. The whine is an effect of the gear tooth cut and shaft placement tolerances (so some do it more and some less). The 1-2 grind or clunk is just poor engineering. I think when my synchros warm up they expand a little bit which is what makes the clunk dissappear.

When cold shifting from 1st to 2nd it doesn't grind but you can feel it mesh with the gears and clunk in. When it gets warmed up it's fine. I just shift easy until it gets warm and have no problems. Usually I drive kind of slow until the engine gets up to operating temp anyway by then I'm on the freeway and its off we go.

Besides the hundreds of posts here

"Sticky: Post here only if you have had your TRANNY replaced."

...this is the first time that I’ve heard about the problem.

i have an 03 and my 2nd gear is fine, it does feel sorta rough when entering, but once in a while when im ripping thru gears 3d likes to grind!! and yes i do hear the whiney noises ....i just hit 30 thousand miles on it!! also when engaging the clutch and pushing down on it...i feel it rattle a bit!!>>?? the only other manual car ive owned is a civic..im guessing its because of the power difference? any one have the same problem?

I bought mine brand new on saturday and noticed this very same problem. And I know you can hear it outside of the car cuz I heard someone drive it when I was outside of it. This sux. I think I'm going to complain to my dealer about this. I can't be going around with a grinding car. I got this new car cuz my old one was rattling. I can't stand stupid noises from a car like that. Especially from a brand new one. Just pisses me off. Ok I'm finished ranting. Will this mess up the clutch or tranny at all later on down the line? It sounds like it's doing damage. Any comments appreciated.
