Default Help Installing Slave Cylinder

So i just replaced my transmission and now I'm to the step of reinstalling the slave cylinder. However when i try to install it the rod on the slave is pushed all the way out and i can't seem to compress it no matter what i try. Does anybody have an idea on what i should do?
