I am plannin on purchaseing a 350z in the next few months and want to stap on a few mods.
My plans include
NISMO CAI
NISMO Headers
NISMO Cat-Back Exaust
I still want the car to pass smog, so i think I will keep the cats in place. I am only lookin to do bolt on mods right now nothing serious untill the warrenty is up. I am projecting about a 10-15 HP increase with the following mods. Any agreement / disagreement let me know. Or do you guys got better ideas?
Let me know I am open to discussion about everything.
Originally posted by AParshall04 dont get the nismo CAI, get the JWT popcharger. For the gains you will get, ditch the headers, get high flow cats, and UR pullies.
Totally agree. Its like you read my mind about what I was going to write.
High flow cats may pass emissions in CA, but it is illegal to remove your stock cats here with anything but factory units. Plus, they do visual inspections. (Those bastards!)
Originally posted by failsafe Smog shop does emissions and visual inpections statewide (CA). But the cats are pretty easy to swap come smog time.
keep in mind however that if your cats sit on a shelf for a year or two, theres a good chance that they will no longer work, and you will pass visual, but fail the sniffer test. The catalyst needs to be heated up to be effective, and if its sitting on a shelf, its not being heated up, and the catalyst doesnt have the effect it would if it was installed the whole time. You guys need a sniffer test every year? Even though its a new car? In IL (to the best of my knowledge) we dont need to do one unless the car is more than 3(maybe 5) years old, and after this 3 or 5 years, we have to do it every year.
