Typhoon finally installed
I spent a couple hours this afternoon hooking this bad boy up. I bought thermo tec tape for the filter box, and a thermo tec cool tube shield for the pipe. After 45 minutes of spirited driving I popped the hood and the tube was cold to the touch...I guess the shield is doing its job. The Z has a downright mean growl at WOT above 5500 rpms now, I love to hear it. Throttle response and pull are both better. Here are some pics:

nice one...
we havent dynoed it yet.. but my guess is 6ish to the wheels...
I had this one on my car until my accident when It got crushed..
if you ask me... this is my favorite intake for the z since it combines the best of both worlds of cold air and short ram.....
but.. the price is high, but i prefer the iflter placment of this intake.. as well as the jwt pop charger...
out of the two... if you want to spend a little extra $ go with the K&N...

the photo makes it look wierd, I was confused too. look closely youll see the blue lines are actually string laced up holding a peice of heat shielding(some sort of leather like fabric) on the intake.
Yah the laces are the thermo tec tube shield. It comes with 4 colors of lace and one happened to match
Other people with the K&N said the box and tube got really hot if they werent insulated, so I wanted to keep everything cool, and it works great. The thermo-tec is made from fiberglass coated with some sort of metallic finish...it says its good up to 2000 degrees.
