im at 1500.... just wondering when i should do my first oil/filter change

 

let your engine break in first. I would wait till about 3K-3.5K before going to synthetic if thats what your going to be doing.

 

I'd replace the oil now, but not to synthetic yet. When you first break in a motor, there is a possibility that you can get some metal slivers in the pistons. It's a good idea to avoid any possible engine damage by changing the oil to flush any of those particles out. I changed mine at 500, 1000 then 3000.

 

It's all a matter of preference.... some do it at 500 some at 1,500 others 2,000... etc. I did mine at 2,700 b/c I was a little lazy, but the manual states that 3,500 is the recommended oil change marker (for normal driving conditions). Get your supplies, an oil filter, a GOOD oil wrench (trust me, the first one is the worst ), and some 5W-30 (or a different weight if you like, dino or synth). Some considerations include a new drain plug and gasket.
