Default How do I install crank pully?

Since the search is down, I was wondering if anyone had a write up or some information based on installing the crank pully.

It comes with instructions but they are pretty easy.

Put gear on 6th
Apply brakes (you will need friend or stick to hold pedal down)
Attach socket to pulley bolt with breaker bar and losen (do not remove yet)
Losen adjuster pullies and remove belts
Remove pulley
Install pulley, there is only one way as there is a slot on the pulley
Torque down (in 6th and brakes applied)
Tighten belt with adjuster pullies

You are done.

Awesome!! Thanks. Did any of you have a problem with getting you hand in there since it's such a tight space?

A couple of things I forgot:

Remove engine cover (to access pulley easier)
Remove engine splash guard (to access adjuster pullies)

also bring a big breaker bar as the crank pulley is on there good! and you need new belts too.

The pulley is easily accesible from the bottom once you take off the shielding. Easiest way to get the bolt loose is set it at the 4:30-5 o'clock position and hit the ignition once or twice, use the starters TQ to get it loose. I did this and had the pulley off after 2 quick flicks of the ignition. I tried getting it loose with a large breaker bar and a 3 foot pipe pver it, but it was useless even with the car in 6th gear and somebody on the brakes I was spinning it. Remember to put some anti-seize compound on the inside of the pulley, makes it much easier. The whole job with the help of a friend should take you about 30 minutes if you have the right tools....

So you need to go from underneath to get the pulleys off? I just got my pulley set in, but I don't have a garage or very many tools at that. Think it is still do-able? Honestly?

Also, the instructions say to take a lot more out of the engine bay than you mentioned up there? So is all that other stuff unecessary or what?

Had mine installed on my G sedan yesterday at a local shop. Took them about an hour and cost me $75. It was worth that not to have to worry about screwing something up!

For just the crank pulley that should be it, I am going from memeory when I did it, but if you post the instructions I can tell you if I had to do it.

And you do need to get from underneath to get at the adjuster pulleys.

Damn, underneath huh? Like I said, no garage here...and not many tools to work with at that.

Against my better judgement since I like to do everything myself....maybe I'll just get them thrown in when I have my headers installed. : (

i've had my pulley on with no prob for a few weeks now. i did the install myself, and i drive the auto trans.

just yesterday i started hearing a ticking noise coming from the pulley area. i think i might of over-tightened the belts. does anyone know what the tension should be on those belts? also, where can i get a tensioner gauge?

cant wait for the search problems to be fixed.
