Default Oil Filter?

Since the search still isn't working..

What oil filter do you guys recommend? (Brand, size and/or product number)
Looking to change the oil myself and wonder what filter I should get.
Also, if anyone knows the link to a thread on oil changed, please post as well.

The basic I got was.
Warm car up (so oil will flow out easier)
Jack car up and use jack stands and blocks (to stop roll backs)
think i have to remove a panel to get to the filter and plug.
remove plug, drain.
remove filter, replace filter.
replace bolt with washer (anyone know the size of the washer?)
lower car and fill with 5 quarts of oil.
wipe hands and pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Is this right?

I use a K&N HP-1006. (The recommended size is HP-1008) the HP-1006 is a little larger, but has the same pressure specs. So it holds a little more oil. The washer is a copper crush washer. I'm not sure of the size, but your dealer would know.

K&N makes a great oil filter. The K&N also has a nut like device welded on the end for ease of removal.

The factory oil filter is what I use... Make sure you purchase the copper crush washer from the dealer too... As you tighten the drain plug the washer collapses and forms a tight seal.

You can purchase the crush washer from a foreign auto supply store. I first bought one from the dealer, for sizing purposes. I then bought a handful from the auto store 25% of the dealer's price.

Do a google search on the web. Lots of articles. From what I remember, stay away from Fram. Mobil 1 and Purolator came out very good.

from my experience, jacking up the car is not necessary. i do my own oil changes, and i never jack the car up. it's a little bit less of a hassle.

from what you said, i can suggest a couple of things. when replacing the filter, dip your finger into your new motor oil, and then lubricate the rubber gasket of the new filter with that oil. also, when you're filling up the oil, check to see that it fills in the proper amount. just check the dipstick and make sure it doesn't go beyond the max line, although it can be hard to tell with our sorry dipstick.

FRAM Sucks! Don't use fram. I personally trust K&N and use thier HP-1008 oil filter. Also, I use Castrol Syntec 20W-50 motor oil.

I use Mobil 1 filter with Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic oil. No probs yet. I have had very good results with Mobil 1 synthetic oil in the past and will continue to use it.
