Question 5 speed Automatic worries.

I have a bud who jsut joined the Z scene and got a 5A touring instead of the 6M. He is an avid tuner and contacted Nissan (without a return ) about the amount of HP the stock transmission could sustain for long periods of time.

Thnx for responses, Kevin

12Secz is running an ATI Procharger with the 9lb pulley at 412whp. He is basically a pioneer of the 5at Z modders.

Realy, I didnt think the Manual trans could hold that, much less the auto. To those who have the auto, how does the sequential mode feel? in the hizzle fo rizzle, jizzeff

i've got the auto...."sequential mode" are you referring to the manumatic?...if so I personally think it feels like a "half-@ssed stick shift"

i played around with it...but i'm beginning to think that leaving it at auto has a quicker reaction(only disadvantage is when is sometimes...not all the time sometimes picks the wrong gear) when you press the metal to the pedal.

i agree with shimz, the manual mode for the auto is crappy. i use it occasionally but it burns a hell of a lot more gas and the shifts are not quick unless you have it around the 5-6k mark. i guess it is better than not having the manual mode but it could be improved

With an N/A Z the auto shift is no big deal. With F/I the manumatic mode makes a huge difference. When racing it is the only way to go.

i dunno i tend to always drive around with the "manumatic" mode on....i find i have more control over the car...such as engine braking....if u all wanna test something out for engine braking this is what i do most of the time to save my brakes....

i hit the shifter to ( - ) to downshift and as soon as i hit it....i punch the gas alittle and it revs it up without moving the car (meaning it dropped itself into the neutral and i hit the gas just on time when its in neutral....this helps prevent the long period of time between down shifts i use it alot....ive kinda masterd the art of manual mode....if u have any questions let me know
