Depends on the oil. A good APO like M1 and you're better off running the 0W-30 than the 5W-30. The oil flows better at low temps and start-up, but is more stable at high temps than the 5W. I run M1 0W-40 myself. Check out www.bobistheoilguy.com for analysis and tests on different oils and filters.

If your local is Sutherlin, you may want to check. I called for an appointment and they said they use Castrol and I'd have to bring my own if I wanted Mobil1. (Naples is Castrol also)

I called the service department at the Nissan dealer and the guy said that synthetic oil isn't recommended. Any idea why he'd say that, or should I just go to a different dealership?

My salesman told me that as well, but I called two different service depts and they told me that it's cool. The only reason I can say that he said that is because once you put syn in the car you are not supposed to switch back to reg.

Mobil 1 5w30, planned on using the Nissan filter but several are saying the Mobil makes a better filter. I am switching at 7000 miles after changing with dino at 1200 miles and 4000 miles. I plan on running the Mobil 1 synthetic for 5-7K miles. Isn't nissans recommended interval 7500 miles???
