Default Air Fuel Gauge Options... what are you using?

Hi, I was wondering who made an air fuel gauge besided autometer. That was the only one that I saw besides the top of the line Greddy (about $275)-- are there any other options, and which are you guys using? Thanks.

check out the AEM wideband. Its pricey (about $450) and ugly, but supposed to be the best.

M-300 from www.plxdevices.com is what I am using with optional wideband to narrowband converter for use with the Autometer A/F gauge. The M-300 has a digital display and I use the Autometer gauge in the A-pillar more as a heads up since it is very easy to see. HTH

dont buy anything but a wideband IMHO - the thers are too fickle to be reliable, as they rely on a narrow band sensor.

What all is done to your car that you feel you need an AFR gauge in there at all times? So long as the tuning was done proeprly by someone who knows what they are doing, there is no real need for sucha gage for the vast majority of people IMHO. For those with more hardcore setups, or doing frequent tuning, its indespensible.

Im confused. It looks like youre saying a wideband is the only way to go. But then you say most people dont need one. If Im going to run a vortech but wont be doing any tuning myself, is a normal A/F gauge like the Greddy good enough? I dont think I need the precision of the AEM just to monitor during normal driving and occasional track time.

I think its very useful for the guy who plans to do their won tuning or who plans to make frequent change to boost, and the ecu tuning...for everyone else, no I do not think its necessary. Just gives you something else to look at

I find the Greddy one to be very busy. You have to remember, AFR moves all the time, especially when cruising - an analog unit like the Greddy will be moving alot - I found it to be very annoying to look at

If you don't want to spend the coin on a wide-band meter get yourself a decent EGT meter. They're much better for monitoring engine vitals than the "light show" narrow-band meters.

agree with slam man - if you know what trends to look for, EGT coupled with a good OBD2 logger can yield some very solid info as well!
