Given that they slapped AWD in the G35x sedan, and that the G35 is supposedly closely related to the Z, doesn't it imply that the Z is somewhat compatible with AWD?

anything is compatable with the right money. you could crop a Z body and interior, along with the engine into an sti if you wanted. just cost 100grand.
AWD is no miracle. if you want faster launches at the expense of weight, handling, and drag; its great. but youll get lower ETs and lower traps.

the g35 is relaed but not the same frame, plus the all wheel system in that is not performance oriented, dont forget that to install an allwheel its not just bolt on a new tranny, you need to change your axles, driveshaft, front suspension, and most likely do a lot of fabrication/cutting to make it work, it is not in any way cheap i would expect it to cost at least 4-5k in labor alone

Yes There is a 350Z in japan made a conversion of the GT-R engine and the 4wd system. They stripped all the rear boot plastic and spare tyres. The car Weight 1600kg.

I was just curious if it could be done. I figured with an AWD setup in the Z it would be untouchable on the street. Don't wanna spend 13K to do it though.

to the backs of the front doors underneath the car. After that the sedan and coupe have the extended wheel base for the rear seats. Rear suspension components and mount points are identical....at least in the 6spd's.

The AWD G35 Coupe is coming out soon, that drivetrain could be swaped into the Z. Personally I am not a fan of awd, it's a band-aid for people who can't launch.
The awd G35 is going to be the GTR here in a couple years. It's a twin turbo G35 with a VQ destroked down to a 3.3L.

I would be definitely be a fan. It would be nice not to be spinning the tires in the first three gears when the roads aren't perfectly dry.

Everytime, the same thing gets said, by just about the same people.
For those of you that think RWD is more fun, remember that the AWD system in the G35x, whether it is exactly the same as that from the GT-R family or not, does share one very important aspect...it is RWD until slippage is detected. This drivetrain is not like the EVO/WRX FWD biased setups.

) however something a bit more aggressive then the current G35c. AWD and Turbo on a 3.3l would be a very nice contender for Vettes provided it wasn't a blubberboat.
