Confirmed, my torque converter is now at Edge Racing!
Andre called, he asked me about my current mods and my goals.
It will go out tommorow back to me at a very aggressive setting for low end torque
Whosdaddy yours is there too!
Can't wait, I have waited for this mod for over a year!

lots of g00d info ^^
Hey Max,
I got a call from Andre too... I can't wait. We may have two more 350Z's in the 11 sec club soon. It would be funny if 2 out of the 3 11 sec Z's were 5AT's.
For those that have a 5AT, this mod will make the biggest difference. Andre was very thorough and asked what my goals were, what modifications I had and never tried to up sell me on any other options. He even asked about painting the housing so the converter wouldn't rust over time and does this for free.
I highly reccomend Edge Racing.
Max, you have to tell me what you think when you have it installed. I wont be going back to Nashville until next Friday. Also, are you installing a cooler? Andre said it wasn't necessary unless you track it all the time. I was going to wait and see if I need it.

Of course Andre's right, but for what it's worth I'd recommend installing an auxiliary ATF cooler. Why? It can't hurt and cooler ATF equals better shifts and longer transmisson life. And, for those with intercooled FI systems, it can help take some of the additional heat load off the engine's cooling system.
While there are lots of good coolers out there, I chose and installed a B&M-70255, 16,000# GVW unit in series (after) with the stock cooler on my N/A G35 Sedan. (Cost < $50.00 & a liitle time.)
Finding a good location for the ATF cooler can be can be a real challenge, especially when an intercooler is present. Location affects any heat exchanger's cooling capacity. Here's the rule of thumb for a installing an ATF cooler on a N/A car:
1) In front of the AC condensor & radiator - 100% efficiency.
2) Between the AC condenor & radiator - 75% efficiency.
3) Behind the AC condensor & radiator - 60% efficiency.
If we take this concept one step further, adding an intercooler impacts all downstream heat exchangers' cooling capacity to some degree.
If and when I install an intercooled FI system, I will seriously consider converting to a larger, stand alone, ATF cooler. This will take the entire ATF heat load off the engine's cooling system.
That's my story and I'm stickin' by it.

Hey Scott I will update you Mine should be on the road screaming Monday or Tuesday and I did opt for the rust protection painting.
Yeah he is cool. Did you get a T Shirt?
I'm not gonna quote a bunch of what the stock stall and where my new stall numbers will be that's Andre's business it's just "very agressive" around 2800 or 2900 and he takes out the lazy shifting lag and slip too.
As for cooler unless someone announces something soon that is 100 bucks I am going the B&M cooler through Summit too. May face it down on towards the ground under the car, my engine bay doesn't have that plastic bottom shroud, I have seen this done on LS1's. There isn't anywhere else to really put it on out FMIC cars with AC.

Hey Max,
Andre did ask me what size T Shirt I wanted, so I'm assuming it comes with the converter. I was just thinking... you and I now have basically the same mods, I wonder if he is doing the same thing to our converters?
Daveo, when I spoke to Andre about the tranny cooler he said that some coolers can destroy the tranny. He said he has seen trannys fail because they were too cold. He reccomended a self contained slim line unit that only comes on when you need it. He also said that what he was doing to my converter will help the tranny run cooler under normal driving conditions.

For those who want to know how it works....
"B&M's SuperCooler low pressure drop coolers reduce the risk of lube system failure. A controlled amount of ATF is allowed to bypass the stacked plate core, passing through a self-regulating orifice which monitors resistance to flow. Controlled by viscosity, the thicker ATF is returned directly to lube through two open bypass openings in the stacked plate core. As operating temperatures increase, more of the ATF flow is directed through the core. Resulting in a highly efficient cooling technology that combines improved protection against lube system failure with the required levels of optimal heat transfer."
Hope this addresses everyone's concerns.
