Default Yeah....and to do the car right, you'll be approaching $ 6 figures

The stroker "kit" is far from complete. You are basically building a whole new engine. You'll need different everything, not to mention vastly different custom engine programming. Then the turbo kit on top of that with a mother intercooler. You want 20 psi??? You'll need an external oil cooler, a complete driveline and transmission upgrade. You'll need race level suspension and brakes to handle the engine power, and unless you want to be totally out of control in every gear, you'll need at least 295 to 315 width rubber in the rear....and the custom body mods to accomodate it.

Really, is that what it takes?! Well darn it anyway, I should just give up now.

So, I need a full ECU, motec maybe? ($10-15K)

An oil cooler, oooohhh, the Nismo's a steal at a grand and a half or so, or, god forbid, I build my own.

I need racing brakes to handle the power? Really? Because my stock ones don't bring my car back from 150 well enough? Come on, the only thing local that's better is the Z06 and new rotors/pads for the Brembos aren't more than $2K.

And $2K will get that Tein Flex just fine as well. Oh no, it's only 16-32 ways adjustable!

295 rears? That's just plain impossible. I mean, just ask these guys. https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=295

So, the engine costs $20K with the install, sleeves, turbo, and heads. Check out Motorsporttech.com's Z07 427 c.i. LS1 (hint, $18K). And the guys at Boulder Nissan are already putting down more power.

I've got about $43K worth of stuff up there. That plus my car is $77K. So, with 20 grand left for the tires and tranny, you're at least right on the 6 figure count.

Now, I don't really know why you are bashing this plan. Do you have another car that you're putting this much power through that cost you less? I've heard those Maclaren F1s are a steal right now! And I think Mikey Schumacher is gonna let Ferrari start selling the F1 cars to the public for dirt cheap.

We're dreaming here, but really, how much money do you (collective, not just Speedracer this time) already have sunk in the cars in your garage. I hear the average American family has 2 or more. With Honda civics, maybe that's the price of a Z. For Accords, maybe the price of a Z06.

P.S. You left out high octane gas and a water injection system. Plus some detailing spray to clean the drool off the car.

Someone has to be the guinea pig for the kit already! when I was talking about purchasing the kit only I wasn't talking the low comp. kit, I was talking about the 11.5:1 kit - you can always go back in and swap out the high comp. parts w/ low comp. and then boost it - if this is something that you are even considering, then that means you have plenty of money to play around with in the first place, so this shouldn't be a problem... 400 whp all-motor is what I'm talking about - no replacement for displacement...

Default I never said I was bashing the plan.......

It just that it is a considerable undertaking. Maybe you have the time, money, enrgy and resources to do it. That's great. It's just that some people have unrealistic expectaions. Just wanted to make sure you weren't going down that path. Also, the dyno time and proper ECU tuning will probably also add considerably to the cost. Go for it...just be prepared for a lot of work and money. I have tuned five cars to varying degrees over the past 20 years, and it is always more than you think.

Oh, you're definitely right about it being more than we think. And that's just financially- don't forget spouses, parts breaking, theft, time commitment, etc.

I think a lot of people look at stuff like engine swaps and turbo kits like it's a bolt-on exhaust or intake. We get a lot of questions like how much will I get and tons of interest in parts that the majority will never use. I'm in the car club here on base and the president's favorite quote is:

"After massive internet searches and hundreds of hours of hands on, I have found that the bottleneck in making more power is the wallet."

If I knew posting this would bring out the anger in the forum, I would have never posted this. I was just basically talking about trying to get around 400-600hp out of this. He act like it is major brain surgery or something. If I went with the stroker kit only I would get the higher comp and get a fuel management system. If I went with both I could drive the car everyday running excellent at 8:1 comp without FI first, I ran my Civic everyday with low comp like that and had no problems. I not trying to go nascar so why would I have to redue the whole suspension when there are 800hp supras with almost basic susp? The whole matter is that most people who have blew there motors have had crappy tuning or just don't know what there doing. Everyones project will not work and yes there will be hard times but also so good ones two. And when did a fuel system cost $10,000, last time I checked the emanage came with the twin greddy kit. Why would I just use that? If I can pump 300hp out of a non-vtec sohc civic auto running 12s, then why could'nt I get hp gains like a Mustang or some other legendary cars out there. I don't think AEBS is making the kit for everyone to buy and blow up there motors with, it is a kit made for real tuners who want real power, not a person who pops in a K&N filter and think they will gain 100hp. Know lets be real about this and start talking facts and not fricton.
I thinking maybe with twin turbo kit and AEBS install and tuning will run about $20,000 (just rounding up some numbers not sure yet). It's not like tuning cost a mill or so. $7000 for st kit, whole twin kit with all componets $7000, install and tuning (not counting st kit because AEBS does it for you) $3000-4500.

there's a little more to it than that i'd say around 25k for that setup. isn't too bad considering the performance you can get out of it.

Default there is big diff between 400 and 600hp....

My guess ( I don't know for sure yet), is that 600 hp will require a whole bunch of "other stuff" done to your car. Let's face it....no one who does a stroker kit with turbo is going to be content with ANY stock component on the car. Everything will be upgraded significantly, and that will ultimately lead to a VERY expensive ride. There is nothing wrong with this, just be sure you know what you are getting yourself into. If you have serious tuning knowledge, that's great, but all too often, people get onto a forum such as this, see some new product and think..."that's it...an easy fix for high power!!!" I just want people to have realistic expectations about wha is involved in such a project, that's all.

You could always buy the stroker kit with low compression and till you get the turbo use Vq30 heads. Your compression ratio should be about 9.8.1 so almost stock. Or use maxima VQ35 headgasket to raise to 10:3:1 which is stock. Then when you are going to boost put the vq35 heads back on.
but you'll lose the variable valve timing

The stroker kit has the same redline out of the box as the stock engine does. it also addresses the biggest weak link of the stock VQ35 bottom end, which is the rod bolts. given the right head work, there is no reason this engine could not rev to 9k

Really, rod bolts? I thought it was the rods themselves that were letting go!

Someone mentioned about fuel systems. I agree that the emanage type stuff will work great with the Greddy, but you're going to be driving 800cc + injectors with a 4.3L TT. I just don't know if you can adjust that much for this setup with the Greddy system.

I want to keep the car a sleeper. I don't want anything like bodykits and bling bling that will have me always trying to take care of. Show cars are too expensive and always need work on staying clean. I mean the average person who wants to go fast does not want to have to keep up with little things just to go when a little show, they want speed so they can take it to the track and win. Don't get me wrong, I still want my car to look nice, maybe some rims and a tv inside the car and also I try to take care of the paint at least 2 times a week. But I want something that no one will expect to be fixed up. I mean they might hear me coming down the road, but at least I won't stick out with 20inch bling blings spinning trying to run a quarter mile. I also think the emanage will not hold what I need as far as fuel, but I think with getting the kit and getting the super or tt, running 5-8psi will be alright for awhile. I mean I in no rush to get done. I rushed on my last car and it got me nowhere but always in trouble with blowing spark plugs and spending money on stuff that does'nt work. I just think that the kit will be a good investment, and what else will I have to change if I get the tt kit and st kit, almost everything you need comes with the tt kit except a couple of small things. If someone can run 400+ on almost stock fuel stuff, then I think my setup will work.
