Default Nismo Spec 1 & Spec 2 Cams

Got some questions about these cams. The Spec 1 cam has a 276 degree duration. And the Spec 2 cam has a 284 degree duration. Will they work with the stock head or would you have to upgrade the head. And would some other internals have to upgraded to use these cams. Or is it to aggressive for the street.

According to Z1 Performance they will work with the stock head. I'm still waiting for someone to put these cams on and see how they are. Then maybe afterwards we can get a GB going on them.

Is that the advertised lift or at .050 lift? Any links to the exact specs?

So does anyone have any more info on these cams? I'm highly interested. For some reason I want to go with an all motor setup for this car, I have my money waiting for some effective NA mods.

By the end of next week. I will probably be purchasing the Spec 1's. I dont want to be too aggressive(deep down wish I could but to many unknowns). I dont think anybody has gotten any cams past the R-Tune.

hey pimp911 let me know where and when you're getting the cams, maybe if i buy at the same time as you we can get better pricing. Also I will probably go for the spec 1s as well, spec 2's are quite expensive and aggressive. Although I can imagine them already....

I believe that 350EVO has the SPEC 1 Nismo cams and said they were really impressive. Don't quote me, I just think I read it in one of the threads.

Default Spec 1 cams....

Big question also is can you run the Spec 1 cams with stock valve springs... If not this will add $$$$$ to the install price...

I remember a thread in which 350evo mentioned the racecar using nismo spec cams but I don't think he said which ones. He did however say they had impressive gains. Wonder if we can get a group buy going on either of these two new nismo cams. Also on Z1 Performance website they show a vtc pulley for the Z? What's that supposed to do and will that increase hp significantly?

Just to be on the safe side I am getting them also. Performance sells high lift valve springs.

Nathan in the Australian forum has some awesome posts about NA for this car. Something about how efficient the engine is. For example, it makes as much torque as a 360 Modena. HP is a different story, but Ferrari gets to rev to 8.5K, we get 6.6K. He compares it to a Porsche as well. You'll have to search for it.

With higher lift cams at higher RPM, you can make power, but the stock rods will give out on you if you rev too high.

I think a problem with this supposed 280 HP or whatever NA cap is that people are mostly sticking to bolt-ons. Well, maybe not problem, just the reason. Without getting serious with airflow through the heads or the compression ratio, we're stuck at a certain level. The NA power relates to the % of volumetric efficiency you can make with the engine, and without higher revs and different camshafts, that stays relatively fixed where everyone is sitting at.

oh man!!!!!! z1 has an insane amount of really awsome parts, it makes me want to go crazy. Look at all that high performance nismo, and a TOMEI engine like EVO"S get OMG wowowowowow. This is insane. NiSMo crank that is 80 percent stronger than stock wow. I see a bunch of new possibilities. AEBS is cheaper than a full nismo set up that revs to 8000 but may be around the same but if hybrid can be made? wow this is going to open up a whole new can of worms. I feel like i'm driving an integra again there are just so many engine steups possible now. all we have to do is find the best combo either FI or not to enhance the characteristics of our car or make it stronger in certain aspects. this is exciting, i am definetly keeping my z. Imagine the mods theill make for the V8 skyline or the japaneses spec ttv6. wow as you can tell this is very exiting. sorry i did not spell check or set paragraphs. you don't have to read this. peace brothers and sisters.

I looked at the z1 website and it looks like there are 3 different cams: the r-tune($1300), and then the spec 1($1500) and spec 2($2500). I believe performance nissan has the r-tune, but if they are a nismo dealer I am sure they can get any of them from japan.

Wow, that's going to be one helluva idle even with spec 1 lol. Should sound really good and noticeable that you did cams. The R tune I can barely notice that I did cams, you have to really listen for it. Can just imagine the 27x series.
