Default Good torque converter

What do you people think is a good torque conveter? I would like one that is a high stall or at least close to a hight stall? Is there any chip for that auto transmission that will make the car act like a high stall trans? Will the M45/FX45 tq convert work? What about the tq conveter of a VQ40 vehicle? Because those cars make pretty good tq power.

Do you have one? Is the tranny the same? You won't benefit from the modifications that Andre does if you stay stock even if it was the same tranny.

I think he's trying to say that you won't get much gain from this mod (TC) if you stay stock (NA) unless you go with forced induction (turbo, s/c, N2O)...

Come'on Max, be specific!!

Gotta disagree with my fiend max here.

You can totally benefit from a high stall TC. By rasing stall you will impart the power made at the higher rpm (say, 3000 or whatever you customize your to) to the wheels, instead that of lower, stock 2200-2400 rpm stall.

Max benefiting from the TC in another dimension, my jumping into a higher rpm band sooner, Max is getting into boost far sooner, thus reducign the "lag".

2900-3000 stall, that will give you enough to really launch!

So how much is a tc going to cost and will it cause any warrenty or transmission software problems? Not to mention do you get any tq increase? Is there a software upgrade I can get to do this instead of getting a tc? Thank you.

If you have an early 03 auto , there is an upgrade that most Dealer dont know about .I just found out about it .talking with the Dealer now about getting it done under warrenty . A trq. converter will give tons more trq. Im having one put in in a couple more weeks and I hear there are 5 people on this forum that have them . The cost I believe is around $350 to $400 for the verter plus another $500 for labor .If you want to go to G35driver.com and search for the AT5 upgrade .There is an Ifiniti tech that is letting people know about the software upgrade for early 03 AT5

Please tell me more about this converter upgrade for early 03 autos. It is computer related or parts related?

That is just a software update for the TCM. I know that it is available for both the G35 sedans and coupes, and I would bet for the early Z's as well. The TCM is flashed with the Consult II (with the program loaded onto a PC flash card an dinserted into the Consult).

There were upgrades for the ECU as well, by the way.. so something to look into.

As far as infinitis are concerned, all the dealers are terrible. They say stupid things like: it will void your warranty, you have to change the whole part and can't flash, etc.

You can prove to them by printing the Consult II printout attached.
