Default Aluminum Oil Caps

Anyone else has an aftermarket Aluminum Oil cap (Nismo or other)?

Was changing my oil and went to unscrew the cap to let oil run faster, also to refill. Hot DAMN, that thing was hot. Suppose to let the engine run to normal temp before changing the oil. The drain pan bolt was hot, but still able to bare hand it with no problem. The oil cap was another story. Damn, think I got 2nd degree burn from it. Not only was it hot, it was screwed on TIGHT! Don't know if it was the heat or what, but I had to use the handle end of a pliers to twist it off (it's not like the stock one, no easy twist bar in the middle)

Anyone run into this problem? Also, does this hurt the parts that it's connected to (the opening, gasket, etc...)
Makes sense that it's hot (since Aluminum is a good heat sink), but this was insane. Thinking of switching back to the stock oil cap.

I bought one of the cheap ones off ebay.

Call me paranoid but i'm hesitating on using it because it almost seems like screwing/unscrewing it often would cause the aluminum to flake and drop into the oil. Which ones are you guys using?

I got one of the cheap ones also off ebay. Obviously it is not really a Nismo, but it looks damn good surrounded by my CF engine cover. I have also noticed that it gets very very hot. I noticed this morning that the Nismo sticker in the center of the cap loosens up when it is heated. The glue on it does not stick when heated up. I dont really think it will go anywhere though. I am still going to keep it on my car. I guess when i get my next oil change here in the next few days, I will tell the guy doing it to be carefuly and not chip it. Im too lazy to change the oil myself.

Same deal here. I was paranoid too cause I saw flakes, but I just file it off and wet sand it till it was smooth and flake free. Plus even if one or two flakes drop, the oil filter should keep it from going into the engine.

Didn't put the emblem on, just have it all aluminum showing. Looks nice, but a real pain to take off (literally)

wow, alphared, your last post said it was edited on 6-6-04.... at 6:66 am no less. cool.

i noticed also that my nismo cap was stuck on pretty tight. not sure how hot it was though, because i wear gloves when i work on the car.

mine is the authentic one. in hindsight, i should have stuck on the emblem after i put my cap on for the first time. that way, the wording would be straight.

edit: checking to see when my edit date is....
