Default RT Hi cat flows - another problem....

I have put about 600 miles on my RT hi cats and when I start up my car, there is this high pitch 'whiney' kind of noise that just comes and go's for 2 minutes or so. once the car is warmed up, the sound go's away. i have killed my ecu about 3 times and yes, I did disconnect it for more than 12 hours each time. In the beginning i thought it was the stock exhaust that had to be broken into... but there should be no excuse at this point since i have 600+ miles on them. the only other mod i've done is the injen CAI. is this happening to anyone else?

Did you retorque the bolts? They can come loose and you should check them after you drive a few hundred miles. Sounds like a small exhaust leak which seals after the car warms up.

the gaskets that came with the rt cats blew out in a week....so I replaced them with metal gaskets I got from nissan parts

My Crawford's came with no gaskets either. The did however come with all the hardware needed for the install. The old gaskets are metal, and can be reused with no problem.

sounds like an exhaust leak.

btw... your subject is rediculous. People should take more care in making statements about a product.

Default didn't mean to mis lead anyone....

sorry about the title, didn't mean to mislead anyone.

i actually did purchase new gaskets from performance nissan.... what the hell? why are these simple mods causing such problems. i guess i'm just going to have to take the car to the store and see what they can do... ugh!!!!

RT cats dont come with gaskets, and if it blew out that early, than maybe its just you didnt tighten your bolts tight enough and there was a leak which caused that.
