The US Z is designed to run with 91 octane fuel. Adding an octane booster should not be required.

If you are adding a booster, something like toluene would be better than an alcohol for the sake of fuel line life.

Octane booster do not really raise the level enough to make a difference. Plus you would have to burn about one whole tank before the ECU fully adjusted. Off the shelf octane boosters are good for fuel system cleaning. When you buy it make sure it is cat safe and meets the standard for merc or bmw lube properties and cleaning. Most will note those standards.

Toluene really does work. Again, it is not needed.

Octane booster or toluene/toluol is good to add to the tank in that rare ocassion when you are out of gas and can only get low octane.
