110 octane ????????
there is a gas station a few miles down the street from me that has two pumps that service only 110 octane fuel. its like 4.30 a gallon but im guessing with 110 octane you would feel a little boost in performance, not to run it all the time but maybe once a month or every two months. any suggestions as to if it would hurt the engine or fuel management, etc. or if it would totally destroy the engine. thanks for your help.

I think it will give you more than just " a little" in performance. True that higher octane benefits FI applications better. However, it can also do wonderful things to the N/As.

BTW, like ravaz said, $4.30 for 110 octane is a pretty good price. Here in SoCal 100 octane cost $5.xx+...and thats if you can find one.

it would have to be leaded I think. and would hurt the cats/o2 sensors.
aside from that, I dont know if the ecu would notice and advance the timing to even take much benefit from it. and with stock compression of 10.3:1, its up there, but 110 is way way more than it needs. itd be useful if you went to testpipes and high compression piston heads. but I think the novelty of the extra hp would quickly wear off after each 80$ fillup.
100octane would be useful for the track on a near stock Z if you can find it.

the computer wont advance timing past stock just because you used higher octane fuel...it would however retard timing if you put in lower octane fuel...if you messed with the timing urself, then there would be a benefit, but on a stock car...putting in anything over 91 is a waste of money...

unless the car is knocking, then the ECU will pull lots of timing out. Thoeretically however if the car was running just fine (ie. no knock) with 91, switching to 110 won't do anything except help prevent knock. With 107° and 7% humidity like we have in Arizona, my Z knocks all the frickin time on 91.

they tested 100octane 2 years ago in the first article on the Z in SCC. they got 2 or 3hp from it. but after all this time, we know 2-3hp is well within error range, without multiple tests done, I wouldnt say it really did anything for sure.
I dont remember the conditions of the test though.

I think anything leaded will hurt them. its a different fuel when you get to 110 and its leaded(which is has to be). I didnt know it either, but this was asked a while back and someone said mixing them doesnt work like that.
Guys, all I know is that I did put in 110 octane boost in a bottle and added to the tank and within a day, my freakin' "check engine" light came on and only disappeared when I was done with that tank, and into the next full tank of gas only. I do have some mods done to the car, and it seemed like the car ran like s**t.

Ive read a few articles on using good paint thinner to raise octane . would be cheaper to do it that way . From what Ive read its perfectly safe to use . [url]www.easyperformance.com
