Default TS ECU "Crawford" Reflash Impressions

Well, Doug finally put down the Beer and finished a project that has been going for quite some time. Crawford has been working with Technosquare to develop an ECU reflash for a N/A car with their Plenum, Headers and HF cats. The test car was a 6MT that also had a JWT popcharger and a catback exhaust. I sent my ECU in on Tuesday and received it back yesterday. I went for a test drive last night and today. I had also ordered the 350EVO throttle body and had TS make any adjustments to the ECU that would be needed for this as well. My current mods are as follows:

Injen CAI
350EVO TB
Crawford Plenum
Crawford Headers
Crawford HF Cats
Injen SES Exhaust (Angled tips)
UR pulleys
Grounding wires
TS ECU
19" Volk LE37Ts/Toyo T1-S tires

I was a little worried since my car is the 5AT and not the 6MT, but after driving it those worries have long since dissapeared.

Low End TQ!!!! One area I have always been dissappointed with has been the low end response of my car with the 5AT. I have considered many different mods including a TQ converter (still thinking about this one) and just going TT. The 19" wheels really hurt the car in this area and I have not since been able to turn the tires over from a dead stop without a little power braking. Well after the ECU and TB install, the tires turn over without any braking at all and this is on a rough country road in Iowa!!

Mid range power - The car has always been very strong here, especially with the Crawford headers. Now with the low end boost, the mid range comes fast and goes even faster. The car really starts to pull like crazy around 3K and doesn't stop! I can tell the car likes what is going on because the acceleration is smooth and fast, no hesitations.

Top end - With the Plenum and the Injen CAI, I started thinking that the 350EVO TB would make a great mod to help feed more air up top with the rev limiter increase. I am not sure just which part is making the biggest difference up top as far as performance, but I will say that the increase in the rev limiter is wicked. The car simply does not stop pulling and when you shift from 7200 rpm you land right back into gobs of power and the car does not miss a beat. Before these mods, I could feel a slight hesitation between shifts and right before redline the car started to loose some of that pull. Not any more. On my test run I hit 120mph so fast that I was a bit shocked!! With the increased rev limiter the gears take you to different speeds than you are used to in each gear. WOW!!

The car also just feels ready while driving down the road. Even in 5th gear the engine responds to the gas pedal a lot faster and with more power. A great feeling, one I am sure the TT and SC guys love!!

In the end, I am very thankful Doug and his crew continued to work on this project until it was worthy for release to the customers. I know I for one can be very impatient and was always asking when it would be ready. It goes to show how dedication, R&D, and good testing can result in great products and very satisfied customers over and over. I am glad I waited and did not have to play the send the ECU back and forth game.

Now, I can't wait to make it to the 1/4 mile strip to see how well the times fair. Poor tires

SOUNDS SPECTACULAR!
What other N/A mods do you think would make your car perfecto? Sounds like you're very impressed with the power!

I'm not real sure, hard to say since I added both at the same time. The real reason I got it was to help up top knowing the rev limiter would be increased, plus it is another N/A mod that I didn't have yet I would love to do cams but I hate spending money for other people to install parts on my car. I have done all the installs myself thus far. I think the JWT cams would really raise some hell with my current setup though. The TQ converter really has me thinking and may be the next mod I do. I am trying everything but cams hoping I can talk myself out of them hehe.

TS is about 1.5 hrs from me...Anyone know if they will do the reflash if I just drive down there, seems pointless to ship it 60 miles when I can just drive there.......

By appointment, and the absolute best way to have your ECU reflashed since they can tune it specifically for your car.
