Going To Track Saturday, Need Some Information?
I will be going to the drag strip Saturday up near Richmond to run. Going to be fun since it is Fun Ford Saturday this week. Going up with the guy who beat me in his 5.0 Mustang. This time I think I will have a chance since we will be starting from a stand still. I was wondering about what rpm should I launch at with a auto 350Z? I used to launch at 2400rpm in my civic and it did great for my times. Also, would it help if after I launch I cut off the traction control? What do you think I will run stock auto with the only addition to the car is some Volk SF Challengers 19/8.5front and 19/9.5rear with Toyo Proxes? Also, would it be better to shift about 1000rpms before redline so I get the most out of my car. Thanks.
I would power brake and hold the rpms around 2,000-2,300 rpms and then smash the throttle at the same time you let off the brake. Try not to stand on the brake too hard while power braking. Takes some practice but you will get it. You do need to shift a bit early with a stock car because of the power dip near redline. I would shift around 6,000-6,200 rpms if I was stock since the 5AT will have a slight delay in shifting. You may want to try full auto mode a time or two and get a feel for it. Turn off TCS on every run!! Turn off the AC, stereo and anything that might draw current. Take out the spare tire, jack and anything else in the rear. Try not to have a lot of fuel in the tank. Decrease air pressure in the tires to about 26-28 psi warm. Have Fun!!!

Do you think that I will have a problem with the rim upgrade? I have power braked with my turbo civic before, but didn't know if I it was going to be the same with the Z since all the added hp, don't want to just sit there and burn tires. Also, you don't think I will mess up the rims running the psi on the tires down so far do you?
I was thinking about going up there early, around maybe 10:00. I will be staying up there a good while though, so I might see you up there. I have a silverstonez with SF Challengers Gunmetal on it. What are you hoping to run? I want to break into 13's so I can be another one of those freak Z that run fast stock.
