I was contacted by Courtesy and they informed me the JWT Lightened Aluminum Flywheel was on back order, so it doesn't look like I will be installing it anytime soon. My mechanic suggested I not install it to begin with. He said that the steel on the sides of the flywheel has been known to separate over time. Anyone noted any problems with this?

I don't know how true this is but I have heard of people that has happened to but on aluminum flywheels only. The JUN is a one piece chromoly steel flywheel and will not seperate.

Jason,

What exactly is the purpose of the stop? And why would you want to disable the sensor?

if the pedal stop was not there the the clutch pedal would go all the way to the floor and it would wear out the pressure plate and burn up the clutch...

after the pedal stop is installed the pedal wont go down far enough to hit the sensor so the car wont start when you press down the clutch...

i think this is the "problem" with the trans in our car... when you press the clutch all the way to the floor it is hard to shift into gear... but when you press the clutch half way down it goes into gear easly...

good, one less thing for them to worry about...

its a liabliity thing we have to let people know about other wize we dont want to get sued for people starting their cars in gear and it shooting forward...

ever start the z in gear with the e-brake down pressing the sensor... you shoot forward...

Before buying the JUN do your research...because this thing is one piece and so thin theres no where for the heat to escape. Therefore this one is more likely to crack over time....I would stick with the JWT(Fidanza) or RPS

Thanks for the info. There's no need to unhook the sensor with the stock clutch/flywheel, is there? Also, does it throw a SES light?

no need because you can press the clutch pedal all the way to the floor to start the car with the stock set up...

although... i do not think you should press the clutch all the way to the floor with the stock set up... i think that is what is starting all the tranny problems...

The JUN is a forged flywheel made from Chrome Molybdenum which makes it much alot more heat resistant than standard steel. I also don't know of anyone that has had trouble with the JUN flywheel with other Nissan engines. If you do please let us know what type of car and what was the problem.

I did start my car by accident (auto-start) with the car in gear once....I was parked in a drive-way with a slight incline.....anyway the car shot forward and put a huge dent in the beer fridge..... and now I have a NISMO body kit......the parking brake is not strong at all...LOL.... oh well.....The car shot forward so hard though that it crushed my injen CAI filter.... thats a lot of force....

In the past 16 years, I only depressed the clutch half-way to change gears, except when putting it into 1st gear; then I depress all the way. Then, I had the tranny in the Z replaced; read the manual more carefully, and found that it recommended full depression of the clutch pedal. So, now, I depress it all the way. It was hard getting over that habit.

I dunno...

you can lift up the clutch pedal quite a bit before it starts to engage...

Default clutch stop

Jason, do you sell the clutch stop independently from the Tilton clutch. It also appears that with a few washers etc, that the switch contact poitn could be "raised" to allow the switch to be depressed even with the stop is installed.

yes I do sell them seperatly... it is something we fabricate and each one needs slight modification (bending) depending on the car...

there is some adjustablity in the sensor... but, I prefer not having to step on the clutch
