Talking New Tranny Coming

Well I could not take the embare *** ment of grinding into 3rd gear any more Sat wasn't just a grind but a total loss of getting into any gear even after pushing the clutch in and out five times. I almost got rear ended due to the lack of acceleration, I had to pull off the highway and after a minute or so I was able to get going again.

Anyway I took the car in this morning and just got a message that they will replace the tranny tommorow

I just hope this works, but i am happy i haven't had to go through hoops to get the work done.

They didn't even question it, but the thing was done. I made to almost 21000 miles too

Anyway I'll post the outcome when I get the car back

Is this something I should expect to have happen. I have about 18000 miles and have had no problems. Does the problem start out slow and get worse or does it just happen at once.

does it ever grind when you shift? mine started slow (occasional grind into 3rd) then started happening more frequently in 2nd and 3rd, with a clanking sound when it was in neutral. the noise got louder so i took it to the dealer and got a new tranny

Vivid,

For the last 3 months it had become progressively worse

Basically as powertrip described

On another note, I drive my car on the easy side.
I don't run the car hard alot and I let it warm for a good minute on most days and hardly ever take the traction off, so basically it doens't seem to matter if you baby your car or run the crap out of it. It's going either way if you have the unlucky tranny

Mine just got approved for a new tranny, too. I had third gear grinds, especially at lower RPMs and colder temps. It used to not happen with temps above 50 degrees, but gradually got to where it would do it even in summer heat when the car was cold.

Trying to decide on a flywheel now They said Nissan recommends doing the clutch, too, so I get a new clutch at 22,000 miles.

BTW, 2003, built in November (I think).

I am going from my second to my third 6MT. The gearbox doesn't seem to be able to handle what the engine puts out. Or it's defectively designed. Or Whatever. Nissan should replace your 6MT on warranty. If they don't, scream bloody murder to Nissan USA. Good luck.
