I put about 25k mi/yr on a car, and because I live out in the middle of nowhere, reliability is important. As many of you know, I managed to get the go ahead from the wife for a Crawford strut bar/plenum and a Borla TD exh. I have since driven Doug Stewart's car, which of course has all of his goodies installed on it, and I was impressed enough that I'm now considering the whole Crawford package (w/the sole exception of the ECU). My wife tells me, again, that if do it and my Z blows up, I'll be driving a Corolla. W/that in mind, two questions:

1. What is the greatest amount of largely trouble-free miles any of you have gotten on any Japanese car with a significant amount of NA mods on the car?

2. What, if any, stress on the stock engine or tranny could high flow cats or headers cause? As far as the engine goes, it seems it would create LESS wear and tear, but I'm no engineer. All responses appreciated.

i also put about 25k mi/yr on my car due to a long weekly commute. my z has cams, ihe, cats, pulley, ecu, etc. for the past 30+k miles (and 6-7 track days in between)....runs fine.

i do my own maintenance and everything has been fine.

i think it should be ok for you to go ahead with the crawford package and even ecu.

You definately want the ECU. The ECU will make the mods even safer because it will correct the A/F ratio so your engine will not be damaged by leaning caused by mods. Plus it will optimize your engine for the mods so they perform even better.

I have 37,000 miles on my car . . . I am running everything but cams. Those will be next. No issues here.

I put over 40k miles in the first year of having my car w/ a lot of n/a mods. The only issues I have ran into were those of TSB's and the "normal" recall/commonly breaking stuff. I gotta drop my car off tomarrow @ nissan to get the rear axle replaced for the clicking.

Supposedly never since it's lubed. But we all know time and miles have to have some kind of effect. Whenver that time comes, might as well rebuild the engine anyway as that's going to be one hell of an expesive job.

we have a timing chain. it never has to be replaced.

I dont know why i thought we had a belt, now that i think about it i do remember reading that it was a chain.

Friend of mine is getting his replaced now ( different car ) and it just got me thinking about it.
