Default Stillen Valve body upgrade ?

I know there was a thread a while back regarding the vb upgrade, but can't seem to find it. Well anyway, has anyone done this yet? I'm hoping the peeps with a 5AT and FI can chime in.

Not to many people trust Stillen this may be why no one wrote back, because not many people have it from them.

Thanks Glen

Well, got to trust someone. Seems like they are the only people trying to help us Auto Z's out. Level 10 supposly is bad, but I have never had any problem with them when I did my Turbo Civic Auto. I think alot of things about them are just whoha that people bring up because they ended up messing up the product that Stillen sold them. I mean they wouldn't be so popular if they did nothing but junk work. I would go with there valve body, seems like a good choice until someone else steps up to the plate. Wish Edge Racing would come up with one since they already made a torque converter for us. Then they could make were they can work together without messing up.

I am chiming in...

I am having the VB installed this week I hope, just waiting for a core to come in so I do not have to wait to long and they can just do the swap in a couple hours.

I am having the work done at Stillen and will be glad to report back my results.

BTW- I have been very satisfied with everything I have had done at Stillen.

Well maybe they do good work on the z, but they screwed me over on my 2002 maxima before.

Thanks Glen

Getting screwed in this industry is a everyday thing. The people at crane cams sold me a camshaft that they said would fit my 99 SOHC Non-VTEC Turbo Civic. When I got it in, and went to get it installed, it was like a inch smaller then the stock one. So I had to pay out alot of money to send it back and for the car being down so long. They sent me a camshaft for a 89 Non-VTEC Turbo CRX. I was so pissed off with them for awhile that I ended up ordering from ZEX and selling the camshaft from crane cams when it came in. Hope the install goes well and hope to hear how it goes for when I do mine.

ditto, definitely want to hear your response to decide if this should be my next mod.
Recently rode in an SMG m3 and the shifts on that are very hard. Granted, it's not your conventional auto, but i'm hoping that this vb will make our AT's shift somewhat similar. My hopes are probably too high but still, at WOT, the shifts on my Z feel very slow and weak.

I had a BMW M3 for like a week when deciding which car I wanted to buy. It was real nice with the SMG tranny. I know I could have never have shifted as fast as it did. It was a bad new 2004 black with red interior. Man, what a car, shifts in 0.1 of a second. Dam that's fast. The valve body will smooth it out alittle, but it will be just like a manual when it comes to downshifting, that real rough feel. Had it done to my 99 honda turbo civic and it did do a great improvement on the tranny combined with a torque converter. Took like a second or more off my 1/4 mile.

I have driven the M3 SMG as well, I loved the way you could adjust the shifts....

I'd never trust Stillen w/o a core swap.. they're sure to have tons of excuses should any problems arise.

I've heard of the Maxima horror stories

Thanks for the tip but we have heard all the Stillen bashing stories on a few other threads. Let's keep it on topic.

I have a 2004 automatic as well. I was considering buying this product, but was unsure if it would make a difference. I so far have had nothing but excellent service from stillen. I have not however had them do any installation work. One point I would like to make is an excellent product installed poorly would upset anyone.

I am eagerly waiting to hear your experience with the product.

I have 5AT / FI (SC'd Maxima) w/a different upgraded VB. It helps, but it didn't cost that much
