Default POS dipstick

ok i hate the dipstick on the Z, first off i can never get an accurate reading on it because its so friggin hard to get out cleanly, plus w/ the injen intake in the way its so hard to get it in or out w/o the stick smashing into everything. It takes me like 5 minutes just to get the fricken thing back in. is there any dipstick relocation kit that will make this nightmare any easier?

it only seems to give a good reading if the car has been sitting for a few hours without being run.

worst dipstick ever.

I just don't check it anymore. Not worth the frustration. Just watch your oil pressure gauge, haha.

The VQ block was originally in only FWD vehicles here in the US. Thus the dipstick hole is where it is. Relocating it would have been very cost prohibitive. I personally don't have a problem using the dipstick on the 350Z. While it's not as simple as the VQ30 in my old maxima was, all I have to do is take my time and not get frustrated if it doesn't go right back in the first time. Checking the oil level has never been a problem for me with this dipstick.

I agree that its a Pain in the rear to get back in.. but.. overall.. only a minor frustration.. just dont try to check your oil at night without a flashlight ..

When I first got the car I cursed the dipstick but I have gotten down to exactly how you have to push/pull to get it out and back in. I think that part of the problem is that the part of the dipstick that is outside of the engine has a bend in it. If you try to pull it directly out, it will bind. You have to pull on it so that the force is parallel to the part of the dipstick that is inside the engine.
