Knowing what you know now, what performance mod would you do first and why?

Plenum, Flywheel, cats, headers/exhaust/ecu
I like the results I got out of my stock car with just the plenum the best. Flywheel was a very fun addition for feel and driving enjoyment (unless it is the tilton :P). Cats seem to help the car the most in the exhaust side if everything else is kept stock. In order to get full benefit out of all the mods you must continue with Headers/exhaust/ecu but because of the prices they fall behind the others. Really all are necessary mods if you want to have any success in modding the car. This is just the way I see it
By the way I went this order myself: Plenum, Headers/Cats, ECU, ECU, ECU, ECU, Exhaust, ECU, Flywheel, Y pipe
Yes the ECU was trial and error.

My personal first mod on my Z was the Greddy kit.
The exhuast makes for a very fun car, though.

1. I would do the plenum first for a couple reasons:
a. It helps the car to continue pulling until redline, whereas stock the car really starts to drag in the upper rpms.
b. The plenum has been shown time and time again to help resolve air/fuel issues with the front cylinders. To me this mod should be done by Nissan and it sounds like they are working on this issue for newer models.
2. The second mod I would do is Crawford Headers. Why, well there has been a lot done to show that our stock exhaust manifolds are a real bottleneck that simply do not allow proper flow of exhaust fumes out of the cylinders, especially with the stock cams. The Crawford headers really help in this area more than anything else on the market. Changing the rest of the exhaust does not help with this since the stock manifolds are the biggest issue. Once the stock manifolds are replaced with really good headers, then other exhaust mods will add the finishing touch. Even with the stock cats and exhaust you will notice big improvements with just the Crawford Plenum and Headers.

Exhaust. First mod i did was injen CAI and a grounding kit. They look nice but i try not to drive in the rain and its probably an extra worry and it doesn't add too much performance, although it does look good. I might have gotten one eventually, but i think an exhaust would have been a better first mod

I have nearly all of the N/A mods available and I have tried many combos with my stock parts. The flywheel/clutch and the final drive will make a bigger impact than pretty much any single N/A mod out there. They will help you utilize the power that the engine is currently making by moving the car through the rpms much faster. However, if you want more power output on the Dyno, the plenum and headers will do more than any of the other N/A mods. This car has a decent intake and exhaust from the factory and only until you start adding some serious engine mods will you start to benefit from HF Cats, a better exhaust and a CAI. Don't get me wrong, you will possibly see some difference with any of these mods, but they will come no where near the results of the plenum/headers combo. After the plenum and headers you can start to open the other things up and then add cams and have the ECU reflashed. Then you are talking serious improvements, but a lot of dough.
