Crawford "Tune-up"
Ok... One second im here the next second the thread orgasms into 14 pages. What exactly is included in this "Crawford Tune-Up"? Are they reworking the lower plenum at all? Same Upper plenum design? Is this aimed for street use?
Thanks Guys.

The engine is internally balanced, however the stock crank pulley is harmonically dampened while the aftermarket is not. No one wants to ruin an engine or shatter an oil pump due to vibration. This possible issue is even more significant to us, especially when we routinely run our cars up to 7200 rpm while making high N/A power.
On the whole it wont affect most people, but having dealt with these issues on the track in real race cars, Doug says it is not worth it to him. That's good enough reason for me. I have only heard of one possible issue on the 350Z with this, and it is not even for certain the pulley caused the failure. Better safe than sorry, IMO.
Reworked intake system with Custom larger TB to mate to larger intake on new cast plenums in test now.
2005 lower plenum in test.
3rd set of custom grind cams in design.
I dont think I will go into it more than that, untill we know what works and what does not.

phile, if you just read the last several pages of the thread, and indeed even the last ten posts, then you know what is going on. Crawford is going to produce a premium product on a small R&D budget, and they simply do not have the financial resources of a Stillen. OTOH, they will not bring a product or a package to market if they do not know that it absolutely will perform as advertised.
As posted earlier, the progress should pick up again after the cast plenum orders start to decrease. As for "right now," all the Crawford guys are heavily involved in hosting Z ATTACK this weekend in Nashville.
I love modding, and I know it can become addictive, but one of the worst things about it is that it promotes a culture of "immediate gratification," where businesses are encouraged to rush to market with products that won't work, or break (e.g, earliest Stillen products for the 350, and Kinetix ["Great news! Our new version of the plenum actually works and won't crack--the 4th time's the charm!!]).

i couldn't agree more darthvol....sometimes being impatient will get the better of you and you end up buying something else instead of waiting for these premium products to come out.
i have been modding cars now for the past 5 years and i have learned that good products (not all) take a long time to develop. look at all the different versions of plenums out there even with crawford....the difference being that crawford products are not released until they are certain it's of good quality and thoroughly tested. i would be willing to bet that some people are still running version 1 without any problems.

Sorry, I had to!
I had read this thread a couple weeks ago, and when I scanned the rest I couldn't find much. So I figured i'd give it a bump. My bad. From what I've read it seems like FI is bad for the track. Heat issues, reliability, etc. Since I
am not a drag racer, and NA mods keep the hp/tq curve the same, it seems this would be the best avenue. Problem is, NA mods are ridiculously expensive. I've heard guys who have spent 10K and received relatively little in return for their investment. Either way though, turning the car into what I want to is going to cost around 10K. This sucks.
Don't quote me on this...
But..
Last I heard from someone who attended the Z dayz tail of the dragon cruise was that Doug's car was there running some prototype cams and it was making around 292 horsepower (not sure if thats at the crank or to the wheels) and reportedly sounded like a V8.
