Default project car

I have an 03 350z looking to rebuild in the near future, but I don't know what swap I want to do.

Which is cheap to do a ls or Japanese motor?

The cheapest build would be to simply rebuild that superb VQ35DE you already own.

That's still cheaper than a proper v8 swap and besides the VQ35DE is a great motor.
