Someone did a 2JZ build on here recently; he ended up sinking a ton of money into it doing things right, only to part it out (I'm guessing to recuperate some of his money)

10K would do a JZ swap with the OEM\JDM twins which blow donkey d but can work just fine if the seals are not blown. A 1JZ is super cheap but most likely will have a jacked turbo if not a later VVTI model which will cost more. Then you will need collins adapter and associated bits, wire harness, exhaust fabbed, wastegate, bov, intercooler, rad hoses then most likely the most expensive piece a ECU. Driving on a JDM ecu works but 1JZ ecu's are know to have blown resistors and just a PITA..

I like the fact you are willing to learn as you go, and you sound like you are a very determined person. Good for you Mister!!
As for your plan to swap in a non native engine, I know from many years of building ridged framed road slugs using all kinds of 60's or even 70's era Trump or Norton frames or modding something else. You learn fast! My engine swap experience is mainly in the area of Chev to Chev or Ford to Ford although I've done some Frankenstein's in my day.
I don't know if it's been suggested amongst all the forum Gods comments or not, but for an initial project like this one have you thought of buying a donor car like a g37, or 370z and starting there? Lots of opportunity to mod up a 350z with a more modern engine trans package that has 50 or 60 and is still in the family so to speak the vq3.7. It can easily get for very cash get 50 or more hp out of small NOS kits and or Methanol kits. You can double the stock hp of the 3.7 with air induction like blowers or turbos.
there are new and used things out there. Plus there is little fear of blowing it up or busting the crank these adders are built to safely produce double the stock hp and more with the right tune.
This is just a view from the cheap seats, I hope that what ever you decide you'll get some visuals on it and keep us updated

There is nothing hard in swapping the 2JZ in the 350z. just plan your swap properly and find an experienced mechanic who is familiar with the Supra/350z (if you can't do it yourself) and organize your priorities. first get the parts that you need to get the engine running and drive your car. then. think/plan for the 600-700hp build after that.
My 2JZ swap took exactly 7 months which was slow IMO since my mechanic was a very slow guy and he had to move his shop to another place during the swap.
first. I got the engine/trans, mounts, clutch, harness, intercooler/piping, fuel pump, drive shaft, as well as some 2jz maintenance parts like new timing belt, water/oil pumo and thats it, we started the swap.
now that car is running with the 2jz trouble free. I just did a 4 inch custom exhaust last week (remember good planning for the 600-700hp build) which turned out nicely. the only issue I have now is a minor battery parasitic drain issue which is not hard to fix. the other issue resulting from the swap is that the car is pretty heavy at the front now because of the much heavier 2JZ engine & i'm looking for a suspension that will solve this issue & that shouldn't be hard as well.
The handling and steering turn in response of the 350Z is one of the big plus factors for the 350z
I would be devastated if the handling was inferior after the engine swap
Don't want to change the front/rear weight distribution
Don't want more weight ahead of the front axle line
(Suspension changes may help mask the problem but won't bring it back to stock handling)
well of course a 2JZ swap should never be meant for handling/agility. its only for drag and straight accelerations. otherwise, the swap is done for the wrong purpose.
