Default Can I?

As a placeholder I'm looking to swap a 3.5 Altima, Maxima, Murano, etc. Motor into my Z while I build my shortblock. What do I need to do/ what Z engine parts need to be swapped on so I can drop the chump motor in?

You can do anything you want …

It may not be that easy as portions of the Alt/Max/Murano/etc may be different - such as intakes, heads, oil pans, mounting points, transmission interface.

A smarter move would be to find a good donor block from a 350z (theyre just about everywhere) and tear it down, clean it up, and build the donor block. You'll want to find one that is out of a running car or find one that overheated and blew head gaskets. You do not want one that spun a bearing (as you'll need a replacement crankshaft and you'll have bearing flakes all over the engine).

What are your plans for this engine after you build it?
Do you have experience rebuilding engines?
what's your budget?

If you really wanted the components to build a donor engine while you build your engine I have a few blocks(disassembled) in my garage - but shipping would be crazy expensive.

Welcome- but while the VQ designation is the same, it doesn't mean they're all the same engine.Just to add to what Bealljk has said, the FWD VQ35DEs are built with a different block than the RWD versions. This means the ancillary parts will not easily swap over, and mating up the gearbox next to impossible. .
