Another quick update ordered a CX racing 3 inch core intercooler and 18 row oil cooler. Still no word from the machine shop on the status of the engine, Wiring harness is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Also I have quite a few parts waiting at the border for me to pickup, just haven't had time busy working 6-7 days a week to fund the swap!

Just curious - why CX Racing for the IC? What oil cooler did you buy?

Good stuff!

Cost effective basically they seem like decent quality for the price the oil cooler is also CX racing.

This is the intercooler I bought

They do make some nice harnesses, Just wish they would make a stock tuck harness for a 350z.

Cool man - I've bought aluminum pipe from them and it was pretty good stuff. I looked at their ICs and went with a treadstone.

Good stuff - keep the train moving!

I ended up making my own … A good winter-time project and it came out better than what Nissan plopped down. Not impossible but a lot of documenting what wires go. Also got pretty good at re-pinning connectors. The nylon weave and heat shrink weren't too expensive and I ended up buying some crimping tools and crimps. I had an extra harness on hand and I ended up purchasing another harness so I could extend & match wire colors to the highest extent possible.

Lets not hijack his thread but that is awsome. I have several hundred feet of wire wrapped and tucked into my wiper cowl since i did my tuck many moons ago. Am still itching to redo it by shortening all those wires.

I made the last harness on my mk3 supra with the 1jzgte. This time I chose to use wiring specialties for maximum reliability as it's a daily driver at the moment part of the reason I have not started pulling it apart yet. I am dying to get started on this project we are almost there just a few more core components and I will be starting it.

Thanks guys for the replies etc.... helps me keep pushing forward!

Default Buying a replacement engine for my 03 DE

My 03 DE is manual and I’m buying an engine from an 04 automatic is there any difference in the engine at all or can I just pull the engine out and swap the other in?

Just a quick update bottom end is complete. I didn't expect it to be so much so I probably wont have it for 3 weeks.

I am so excited for this friday, I will finally have the block back from the machine shop. In the following weeks, I can finally start to assemble the engine. I just need to save some money for a head gasket, and then the engine assembly begins.

off the top of my head - things you may need (if you haven't gotten them already) for the rebuild process -

assembly lube
heavy weight oil (like a 75w weight for things that you can't get assembly lube on but still need some lube for initial start-up)
a oiling can
vasoline (I used assembly lube) to pack/prime the oil pump
head/main stud thread lube
RTV (may want to consider a few different types - such as black for just about everything, water pump RTV for anything that seals up against coolant, high temp for anything near the exhaust mani, etc)
antiseize paste
Loctite red / blue
thread lock/seal
flush oil and/or break-in oil
extra filters
coolant & distilled water
trans fluid (if needed)
clutch alignment tool

Thanks for the suggestions, but I have most of this already. The bottom end was assembled already, machine shop assembled it without asking me. That is why my bill is way more than I had originally thought. So it's just a matter of installing the head gasket lower pan oil pump and other accessories.
