Default 350Z orders in Germany

Hello girls and guys,

This is mir first thread (and post) in this forum.

Are there any other girls and guys from Germany which ordered already a 350Z ?

I ordered mine at a local german dealer at end of February 2003 just before the Geneva Show startet. At this time, I didn't know the versions and prices for Germany.

At 07.03.2003 I got a phone call from my dealer, where he informed me about the two versions and the prices. I had to take the Premium Pack, as he (and other sources) say, that the first 800 cars for Germany in 2003 will be all Premium Pack. And I want my Z before the snow comes. I didn't order the RAYS rims - though I am afraid, that this will cause a delay of delivery (see the UK-Formum). Nissan wants to start the production of the german Z's in July. First car's will be delivered in september 2003. But at the beginning they will only deliver test-cars for dealers.

I try hereby to start a discussion for german Z-buyers. Very interesting is the UK-Forum.

If you ordered your Z, I would be interested in the following questions:

- When did you order ?
- What version and options did you order ?
- What colour ?
- Did you get a delivery date (from your dealer or officially from
Nissan) ?
- If yes, what delivery date ?

Yours sincerely.

Hans

Default 350Z orders in Germany (again)

Hello again to german 350Z fans,

Where are you all ?
Please post your answers - at least if you ordered a Z already.
Of course I would much appreciate, if some german dealers would post answers here too (telling us, that they are dealers).

Does anybody know (and can tell us), how many cars have be ordered already in Germany (and in what versions) ?

******************************************

Here are some additional informations for Germany and some personal opinions and thoughts.

Sorry in my last post, i told you a wrong number. Nissan plans to deliver in Germany 1800 350Zs in 2003 (and not 800, as I said in my first post of this thread). Compired to the 450 in UK (according to the threads in the UK forum), this is quite a big number (and quite optimistic).

I have this number from an official internal Nissan paper, dated 6.3.2003, in which Nissan informs there dealers for the first time about the available versions, colors, options, prices and their sales plans. I got this paper as an excerpt - not including internal numbers, i.e. the dealer margins (in german "Händlermarge").

Versions, colors, options and prices are also visible on the German Nissan-Homepage (in a 3 side paper in PDF-Format).

Some important sentences from the first mentioned paper are:

"Production for the European market starts in Juli 2003. For Germany 1800 cars are planned for this year. All cars have the specification "premium pack" (<i.e the top version>). You can choose between the options RAYS 18 inch rims, Alezan-Orange leather package und the 6 colors. The first contingent of cars are planned to deliver - parallel to the IAA in Frankfurt - in September 2003 und will serve as demo-cars (<for dealers>). All other cars will be delivered between October and December 2003. Customer orders have priority before dealer orders (<i.e. orders from dealers without naming a concrete customer>). Insurance class will be VK 33 (Vollkasko). Tax class will be EURO 3/D4. But both is not confirmed yet."

I still did no confirmation from Nissan or my dealer about my order or about a delivery date (I ordered my Z on 25.2.2003 at my local dealer - at that time I were the second person at my dealer, who ordered one). This makes me nervous, when you look at the threads in the UK forum: Nissan plans 450 cars for UK in 2003. In the first hour from 17.3.2003-03:50 pm (i.e. the start of the ordering process in UK) all these cars where ordered. Three english buyers (posting in the UK forum) got confirmations from Nissan on the 24.3.2003: Two of them got a delivery date in Q4/2003 (Quartal), the third one got Q1/2004. It seems, that they also get a order number, which may be a numeration of the incoming orders - but the sequence is not clear (random or sequence of order income or sequence of order processing).

For UK it seems that the first cars will be not only Premium Pack, but also only cars with RAYS rims and metallic colors, which is "not very nice" from Nissan. That is, if you order anything else (i.e. cheaper) you have to wait. In Germany (I phoned the author of the mentioned Nissan paper), you have to order Premium Pack, if you want to have your car early. But no information, if your delivery will be later, if you don't order the RAYS wheels or a non-metallic color. The author told me, that delivery of the base versions will start in January or February 2004. I would guess that, if they get enough premium pack orders (i.e. 1800 orders) in 2003, they will only deliver premium packs in 2003. But if this is not the case, they will also produce and deliver base versions, because this is better than nothing. But of course, I only can guess that. The author also told me, that in Germany there are 700 to 800 dealers, to which they first deliver demo-cars. But not every one of them is getting one (for example because some dealers have two locations). So I can easily guess, that the first customer cars will be delivered in october or even november 2003.

I did order a premium pack version (in blue-metallic, without RAYS rims) only to get an early delivery. But in principle I would have prefered a base version. Beneath of saving some money (2400 Euro), I first prefer cloth seats over leather. And secondly the BOSE audio system had in USA some problems (I think with the bass sound). In USA they fixed that problem later, but nobody could tell me, if this fix is included in the European version. The third additional feature of the Premium Pack version is the cruise control: But you can get this as an option (for 600 Euro) also in the base version (but not in UK, which is quite funny).

Of course I'm afraid, that I get my car in november 2003 or even later and that would mean, I had to start my Z driving in winter. And here (in Stuttgart) we have sometimes snow in november. I would not like start driving a 280 hp RWD car in winter as my experiance with RWD cars is 25 years ago (VW Käfer). In the moment I drive a Ford Probe 24V (FWD) which is quite ok in winter with winter tires. At least I would immediately buy winter tires on steel rims. According to some USA threads a good tire for that would be the Bridgestone Blizzak. The standard Bridgestone RE040 in USA seems to be very bad in winter. But for me this is obvious as this is a summer tire. I also can only hope that Nissan is suggesting some tires and sizes until that time.

By the way, I place my comments in this USA club, because here are very good and deatailed informations and a lot of pictures of the 350Z and the experience of real Z owners in USA.

I also looked in some german Z clubs. But it seems to me, that their members are not very happy with the new Z (a lot of criticism about the 350Z design). They often prefer their old Z cars over the new 350Z.

**********************************

I have two wishes to the club-organizers. I think in this case it would be 350Z_tako. At least if this thread is going to grow, could you please start a new regional forum for Germany. Of course you know that there are a lot of independant countries in Europe. UK has its own forum. Why not Germany too ? And think of that Nissan plans 450 cars in UK (in 2003). In germany they plan 1800 cars in 2003. Isn't this a good reason to have a regional forum for Germany ?

Yo could rename the Europe forum then to "Other Europe".

The second wish is my member status. I have now ordered a Z car. So I think I am no more a 350Z newbie. If you could change this (or tell me how I can do it myself), it would be nice. But this is not so important to me.

Of course I'm not sure if my wish is reaching a person, that can do this wish.

Sincerely yours

Hans

Hi Hans,

It looks like you are the only German customer on the site at the moment...

I work for a German company, with factories in Dortmund, Vreden, Ahaus, Spenge & Herzfeld, but I have never seen a Nissan dealership when I visit Germany.

I am really surprised that there are 700 - 800 dealers, Nissan does not seem to be a popular Car Brand in Germany...

... & I have to ask the question

You live in Stuttgart, surely you should drive a Porsche?

Hope you get a little more interest from your fellow countrymen & women - but at least it looks like you will have a very rare 350Z

jphi...

Is your info confirmed...

i live in luxemburg and also plan to buy a 350z. Normaly luxemburg is connected to belgium.
I asked a friend, who is actually nissan dealer, and he said me that there is no info yet (costs, when, who..) about the 350z. (Funny germany, france and UK have already their prices)

I checked www.nissan.be, this site is a joke. My first homepage, which I created in netscape 2 composer, was better than this crap.

Hm, germany is very close, if I run into problems, I will order the car in germany.

Hello

I prefer to reply in english, so that everyone can understand.

I live in Eschette which is not far away from perlé, so I live rather close to you.

If you want to see an imported 350 Z you can talk to Mr Lentz fom Garage Lentz, in Luxemburg city route d'arlon Strassen. He owns one. What a beauty ! After I saw it, I was sure that I also want one.

It was interesting to see the shape of the car, but it is not a great help for the interior, because some changes will be made on the EU version.

7 month to go.....

Hi Giles (veilside Z), Hi jphi, Hi rocker_lx,

Thanks for your comments.

Giles: Nissan are one of the biggest japanese manufacturers here (besides Toyota, Mazda, Subaru and Honda, only to name some more).

It has too much Porsches here - I like to have rare cars. At least for a while this should be the case. And to be honest - Porsches are too expensive for me. Also IMO the external design of the Z is on the same level as a Porsche (996) - which may not be true for the quality. Most people to which I show pictures of the Z say at first: "O it looks like a Porsche". For me it also looks (from behind) like an Audi TT, but the TT is looking too short.

To our two fans from Belgium (jphi) and Luxemburg (rocker_lx),

May be it's not a bad idea, to buy the Z in other European countries because we are in Europe, though I don't know, if dealers are allowed to sell to other countries. This man from Nissan - the author of the paper for dealers - told me, that Nissan fixed the prices so, that they are all identical after subtracting local taxes - with one exception for Netherlands: They have a very high luxury tax - he told me. So I assume, if you buy a car outside you get back the local taxes at the boarder, but you have to pay your local tax there. But I'm not sure, if you have to pay some additional import tax. But this would be contradictive to the European idea. Netherlands and Italy have only one version - the top version.

I agree to you that the belgian homepage is quite simple and has not much to tell about the 350Z - only older stuff.

Don't hesitate to start an own thread for Belgium - it is just as easy as to reply in an existing thread. So you could start a discussion for Belgium too.

Hi Hans

See there are still only a few interested people who have found the site in mainland Europe. Has someone started 350Z sites in Germany now and people are using that?

We have a couple in the UK but most of us are using and posting to both.

Any news on your order or delivery dates yet? We are still all waiting for dates in the UK.........

Come and join us on the UK site more often, I know its not the same, but at least we are all excited Z would be owners!

Jez
