Car Inspection (TÜV) Question?
Sup guys, I will be importing my 350z to Germany next year when I move there and I am trying to find out any information I can that deals with German inspection laws compared to US inspection laws. What is the difference between the two? I want to make this process as smooth as possible. I did not Turbo my Z because I am scared of what the inspectors may say during my customs inspection. So I kept it pretty much N/A the whole time. Can some help me out to understand the German inspection techniques? And how is it different from the USA.
Thanks in advance

Going out on a limb here, since your location is "Iraq"...
If you are a US servicemember in Germany, there is no "import" inspection. The only inspection is an annual or bi-annual overall check to make sure you fall within specs.
My car is modded to hell and back and didn't raise any concerns, actually, I ended up BSing with the inspection guys for a while about how my Z would stack up next to a 997 / cayman / etc.
Two quirky things that caught me last year was that I had a 20% tint on my windows (legal in georgia) and germany outlawed aftermarket tint and the USAREUR forces made military cars follow suit, so I had to strip the tint off; also had to install a front license plate (not needed in GA).
Now, if you want to sell the Z to a German while you're in Germany, they would have to pay VAT (29% for cars) and get the inspections, etc.

Since we are on the subject do you recommend any shops in Germany?
i'd have to go look up the reg, but the way I heard it was that USAREUR was making anyone with "tint other than that provided by the factory" remove their tint to be in compliance with German law.
I'll have to ask some of my buds about shops -- I do a lot of my own work and had the engine side of the house taken care of before I moved over (so haven't had a reason to re-dyno). I am selling the Z now, though since i'm moving to a snow-covered part of the US... looking at S6's or RS4's, hahaha, should be fun.

I am in the military currently stationed here in Germany. I can tell you that tint is illegal in Germany only on the front two windows. It doesn't matter what percentage it is when you get inspected if it has a film you will fail.
The mods you have on your car are not really important to the Germans. As long as your car is clean which I am sure it is and you have silencers for your exhaust to keep it under 90 decibals you should be good. Most of the time just like Machupu said the Germans will want to talk shop with you about your ride being that they don't see too many Z's on the road here unless they are American Military because the Germans can't usually afford them or they buy Euro Cars with their money.
The front license plate is a must too, you will have to get the long ones too probably because you are coming here as a civilian.
Don't worry about it too much because whatever you have to do to get it inspected and passing will be minimal compared to driving it on the Autobahn. That is what makes the juice worth the squeeze bro.

pretty much every aftermarket part is forbidden in germany....unless it has a tüv "stamp" on it or you know someone who could make things possible
if you have any questions about just ask me or sent me a pm with mod list.
