deng.. i thought taking off the stock hatch wing was a PITA..
basically i had to remove the stock wing, and install my new CF wing. ( there are two 10mm bolts underneath the stock wing that you have to remove first.)
a tip for those who want to remove the stock wing? start up on one edge and use a thin cutter/blade to slice the double stick tape in half.. using a plastic or cardboard piece, wedge it in there to lift and seperate the wing from the hatch.... do that and dont be afraid to lift up while doing so... after you get that stock wing off, there's going to be a lot of sticker residue.. what i used was GOOF OFF on the tape and rub it off.. how much rubbing? enough to blister 4 of my fingers at the tips
read: 3 hours... then i proceeded to wax/ buff the rear to get it shiny--
now here's the fun part- for me, my pedistals were 33inches apart, which puts it ALMOST inline with the stock holes.. but almost doest hack it.... so i had to drill four new holes into the hatch. since this is my metal hatch, i was pretty much whatevers with it since i'll be getting a CF one soon, but MAN... the hatch where it is just below the window has three layers of metal thickness AND sometype of foam insulation core. i broke two drill bits trying to get a starter hole for the top ones.
.. did i mention its also 28degrees outside right now??
well. anways, i didnt have the correct hole saw bits (the ones i tried to use was too weak... see the third install image below to see the attempted cut. hahaah) so the biggest hole i could make was 1/2" using progressive larger and larger drill bits....and the hardware to mount the wing to the hatch has these really large washers bigger than 1/2", not to mention the socket driver i have is also larger. I used metal cutting shears to open the stock wing hole larger to screw in the bolt for the rear pedistal mounts.. but for the front mounting holes there was no way i could cut using the shears.. it was jsut too thick.. then i dropped one of the mounting bolts that came with the wing DOWN the hatch so its wedged in there somewhere and i dont have a magnet...#@#% in desperation... it was off to the home depot racing store... i had to buy some long bolts that use a hex key to tighten inorder to fit it through the front holes... . thank god the underside of the hatch is covered with the plastic cover...this is probably the WORST job i've done myself on any car
.. doh.
well.. now i have four stock holes to cover up so i ordered an 8x10 DB vinyl sheet from Blue Batmobile, in hopes that no one will notice
picts of the wing before install..
Picts of the install...
since i just got the bolts for the pedistal mounts, and since its like 11 pm. i had to stop for the day.. im tired.... install of the wing on the car tomrrow ;P

How many inches is this wing? Is it a 58 inch, or is it bigger? I think the appropriate wing size should be around 64-67 inches (68 inches is roughly the top secret wing size i think).
I'm very intersted in seeing this on the car.
Where did you get this wing? I'd like one like that.

Top Secret wing from japan. i was like 2k after shipping and customs
it's pretty wide.. i'll have to measure it for you guys later.... i jsut got back from finally installing it... the only bad thing is the third brake light is covered.. BUT here's the good thing.. rear window view is NOT obstructed... i have full visibility from the rear view mirror.. its pretty cool to look at through the side view too, cuz you can just barely see the curve of the middle portion.. i would have taken that pict but my camera ran out of batteries.

APR makes a similar wing with a different curvature to the center piece- and their stands are a little taller-

I'm sure it's a little offbeat to see that thing as an everyday driver on the 405 freeway, but dayam, if I saw it on the track i'd get the f*ck out it's way.
I kinda dig the yardcore race car look. The sponsors are a little too bright in comparison to the whole dark stealth race look you got going. What was the subject again? Oh right the spoiler...
Anything else going on next? CF hood? hatch?
