Hey the ones I bought from HIDExpress 8000k were plug and play. You open the wheel well housing, pop out the old bulb, pop the new one in, seal it all back up and viola. I also replaced my halogen "citylights" (The small halogen bulbs inside under the HIDS) with Ares blue LED replacement lights. Makes it.. well.. blue

THats it? Sounds very easy to do. How long did it take u to do it jergens? So the hid bulb pops out easily? Do u need like a scewdriver to take out any attachments to the bulb?

 

Oh okay well it requires a bit of work to get to our headlights. But once you are there it isn't too tough. Here is what you need to do. Or at least what I had to do.

Loosen the lugnuts on one of your front wheels. Then lift the car, remove the lug nuts and remove the wheel. You need a phillips head and a flat head to take off the plastic guard at the front of the wheel well. There are two screws and three plastic "pop" screws you need to remove. Pull the plastic back and there is a grey cover that you twist off to get into the headlight housing. Make sure the car is off BTW as you can fry yourself pretty good on the HIDs if they spark ya. Unclip the little plug and take the bulb out, pop the new bulb in and put everything back. Repeat on the other side. Once all done you need a long, like 15 inch, phillips head to adjust the headlight alignment. It takes probably an hour to do the whole job. Oh also make sure when you install it that the black plastic thing attached to the bulb is facing UP in the housing or else your light pattern will have little shadows in it.

Well i just installed one of the 8000k bulbs and it seems that the light is slightly purple instead of blue like if they were 6000k. one of the bulbs came defective. the plastic thing attached(called the return wire) came broken so i had to send that one back for replacement.

 

Tell me where NOT to buy.

This sight has two different colors for the same Kelvin rating (6000K)

What is the deal with this.

 

I'm thinking of changing out the HID bulbs to more bluer.. There's also a small light under the HID, when the low beam is on.

Is that the DRL light? Park light?

Trust me the world would be a better place without 7000K, 8000K, 9000K, and 10,000K+ HIDs.

 

I wouldn't recommend 8000K HID bulbs. I had 6000K HID bulbs but even they had MUCH LESS visibility than stock 4300K, especially rainiy nights. I had it for a year, and finally replaced it with stock. It might look a little yellowish, (i.e. not pretty to some ppl) but heck, I thought I was on brights when I put them back on. If you are going to, go with 6000K. It might not provide the same visibility as stock 4300K, but hell it looks good. IMO 8000k's look almost purple to me. 6000K is a little bluish white. (wtf is bluish white? )

 

i just installed 8000k bulbs and I don't think they are bad at all. I love the color and they are still bright.. i would recommend them!

They are not bright!!!!!!!!!!!! You think they are brighter because of the color. Go head to head with a buddy that has stock HIDs and you will see.

Stock put out 3200 lumens, at 6000K the output drops to 2400 lumens, at 7000K you might get 1800-2000 lumens, now at 8000K, you would be lucky to get 1600 lumens.

Sorry, but you have no more light ouput than halogen bulbs. You just SERIOUSLY downgraded your lighting.

Add in the added eye fatigue due to the color, the fact that the light easily scatters which further hinders light output, the fact the capsules probably won't last for more than about yr due to poor quality - no reputable company puts out anything beyond 6000K, and you have a poor decision

 

The color everyone so desires is not a result of the bulbs, but of the projectors and cut-off shields.

I call the order guy to order the 6000k HID Bulbs, and White Parking Light Wedge Bulbs.

So I went, the guy did the install, took 20 mins.. None of the wheels removed....

The turned them on.. He said PURPLE... They did look purple, so I looked at the box, and they said 8000k..... I was like oh ok....

But anyways I'll take some pictures tonight
