Default Amber Turn Signal Bulb

Is it a law that the bulb has to be amber or can it be white? If so have any of you folks removed this bulb and replaced it with differnt color I would just like to put a clear/white bulb in there and was curious as to what to use and how it looks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

ok, check this out. i have a chrome bulb that flashes amber. it looks great in the housing. blends right in being chrome & keeps the housing from reflecting all the amber when the flashers arent on! i have an extra pair that i was going to put in the rear clear signal lenses but decided against it since i was going to get the red vinyl covers anyways. i can snap a pic for you tomorrow in the daylight if your interested in seeing what it looks like. if you want ill sell the 2 replacement bulbs to you for $20 shipped. i paid $50 for the set of 4 bulbs at local performance shop.....let me know, even if your just curious to see a pic......
